WMS and WA Meet
The regular monthly meetings
of the WMS and WA were held
on Wednesday, October 11, at the
home of Mrs. Gladwin Westlake
on the Blue Water Highway, With
25 members present.
Mrs. Bishop gave a talk on a
trip to the Holy Land which was.
enjoyed by all. Lunch was serv-
ed at the close of the meetings.

the lady's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

The Woman's Missionary So-
ciety of the United Church will
entertain the members of the
Baby Band and their mothers in
the school room of the church
Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25. at
3 p.m.
Winner at Bingo
At the Bingo held in the Leg-
ion Hall Saturday evening, spon-
sored by the Ladies' Auxiliary,
Miss Audrey Walsh was the lucky
winner of the door prize, a dres-
ser lamp.

Rev. W. J. Rogers ,was guest
speaker at anniversary services
at Centralia United Church Sun-
day, October 16. Rev. G. G.
Burton, Centralia, occupied the
pulpit in the United Church here
and delivered two inspiring mes-
sages. On Sunday morning, Octo-
ber 22, a baptismal service will
be held,

WMS Meets
The regular meeting of Bruce -
field WMS was held Tuesday af-
ternoon at 2.30, The worship
service with the theme, "Christ's
Disciples Bring. Light," ' w a s
taken by Mrs. T. Baird, Mrs.
Ross 'Scott took the reading from
the words of Kagavia and Mrs.
R. Allan offered prayer. The
Thankoffering service will be
held on Sunday evening, Nov. 5,
when Dr. William Godfrey, Home
Mission supt. and president of
the Maritime Conference, will be
the speaker. Mrs. E. Bowey gave
the talk on Temperance and Mrs.
R. Allan on Christian Steward-
ship. The Study Book was tak-
en by Mrs. J. McDonald' and
Mrs E. 5 .Stanway, "The United
Church Re-enters Japan through
Reinforcements," . The meeting
closed with a hymn and prayer
by the president.

Mission Band to Meet
The Mission Band will hold its
meeting in the basement of the
Church on Sunday, October 22,
at ten o'clock. The roll call will
be answered by paying World
Friends subscription.

EBENEZER
Ebenezer WA Meets
The WA of Ebenezer United
Church held its October' meet-
ing at the home of Mrs. Stewart
Farquhar. The meeting opened
with the singing of a hymn and
the Lord's Prayer repeated in
unison. The minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were read. The
roll call was answered by turn-
ing in the donations which re-
placed the bazaar, Each one told
why they should be thankful and
what blessings they had received
during the year.
The Bible reading and prayer
were given by Mrs. Bert Lobb.
Readings were given by Mrs. W.
Biggin and Mrs. Carman Tebbutt.
The meeting closed with a hymn
and prayer offered by Mrs. New-
ton.
A pleasing feature of the after-
noon was a presentation of a piece
of Cornflower crystal to Mrs.
Bert Lobb. Mrs. W. Biggin con-
ducted a contest. A delicious
lunch was served by the hostess.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Frank Jones.

Grace WA Meest ,
The October.. meeting of the
WA of Grace Church was held
on Thursday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. Peter Harrison. The
president, was in charge of the
meeting which opened with sing-
ing ""Come Ye 'Thankful People
Come," after which Rev, Peter
Renner led in prayer. The Scrip-
ture was read by Mrs. Donald
'Harris and roll call answered by
a verse with the word "thanks."
A lengthy discussion followed
when it was decided to hold a
social evening 'in, the church
basement on Friday evening,
October 28. Plans also are being
made for a play to be presented
later in the year. Readings were
given 'by. Mrs. Renner and Mrs.
Will Cox and the meeting closed
with the Mizpah Benediction,
Lunch was served by the host-
ess and her assistants, Mrs. Aus-
tin Harris and Mrs. J. Torrance.
The next meeting is to the home
of Mrs. Donald Harris.
