her home, "Llandudno," and left
on Tuesday for Toronto with her
sister, Mrs. C. McTague who
motored to the village on Mon-
day.
Miss C. P. Rankin closed her
cottage "Glenboig", end left on
Wednesday for. Mount Pleasant,
where she will spend a day be-
fore motoring to Florida for the
winter.

Mrs. Green at her cottage on
Chiniquy Street. Mrs. Green' ac

to Guelph.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith,
who have purchased a cottage at

ronto on Saturday after having
spent two months here.
Trinity Club Meets
The Trinity Club met at the
home of Mrs. E. A. Davies on
Tuesday evening of last week.
Following the Lord's Prayer in
unison, the president, Mrs. May-
nard Corrie, reviewed the year's
work, and Miss Berthena Shir-
geon, secretary, gave a report of
activities. It was with regret
that the resignation of Mrs." T.
Scotchmer was accepted as she
will be leaving to reside in 'To=
ronto. Mrs.. T. H. Mack was
elected treasurer to succeed Mrs.
Scotchmer. Plans were made to
hold n Hallowe'en dance in the
Town Hall on October 27. Lunch
was served by Mrs. E. A. Davies
and Miss Berthena Sturgeon.

This was of particular interest
to many in this district as Jim
is one of our own Bayfield boys,

aret Porterfield Ferguson and
the late James Ferguson. We re-
joice in his well-earned promo-
tion.

at the homes of James Corran
and Oliver Pocock while en
route to Goderich,
Move to Fourth
Mr; and Mrs. Graydanus and
their four children who, for the
past year -and -a-half lived on the
Maitland Road, have moved to as
farm on the fourth concession
which Mr' Graydanus has pur-
chased.
Radio Guest Artist
Mra. Lance Saddler was guest
artist Monday morning on
CKNX's radio show, "At Home
with the Ladies." Friends and
neighbours were thrilled to hear
dents, :Mrs. Renner and Mrs. Mak-
ins were in charge and many
matters of business were discus-
sed.
The treasurer of the WA fie -
ported a balance on hand of over
$450 and it was' agreed to turn
over $200 to the Board of Stew-
ards to help;,,with the work of
repairing tho parsonage. At the

Plan Inaugural •
The young people plan to hold
an inaugural . meeting of their
YPU 'as soon as possible when
neve officers will be nominated,
and plans made for the 'year's•
activities, The date has not been
set but it will be some evening
this month. It will be'announc-
ed in this column and- at the
church services. n
Field Day Winners •
The field day of the Goderich
Township school area ..was held
on Monday at Union School.
Among honours won by pupils
from Holrnesville were the run-
ner-up championship for inter-
mediate boys, Kenneth Potter;
the intermediate boys' dash, Vic-
tor Corran, end the boys' relay,
with Ted McCullough, Bobby
Grigg, Leonard Wilson a n d
Franklin Yeo as runners.

The WMS and WA meetings
were held lest Tuesday at Mrs,
W. Yeo's home. Mrs. Colclough
was: in charge of„the worship
periodfor” the WMS, with Mrs.
Newton taking the study book
chapter. Details of the bazaar
to be held on October 21 were
fully planned under the direction
of the WA president, Mrs. W.
Norman. The hottesses, Mrs. Mc-
Cullough and Mrs. Yeo, served
an 'appetizing lunch.
Anniversary services were held
morning and evening at Holmes-
ville United Church, with large
congregations present for both
worship hours. The auditorium
was beautifully decorated with
autumn flowers, and the choir
under the direction of Mrs. W.
Yeo, provided several fine num-
bers. Miss Gloria Palmer was
soloist for the morning service
and Miss Molly Finlay sang in
the evening. Rev. M. G. Newton
delivered inspiring -addresses to
the congregations.
