Ald. M. a'. Agnew reported for
the Property Committee ' and
stated he had directed repairs of
the fire tower -Windows `
Fire Brigade, Matters
In Ald. A. Garon's report for
the Fire and Water Committee,
he referred to the excellent work
of the firemen on their recent
call to Goderich. He also re-
ported meeting with the executive
of Fire Brigade concerning the
request from Stanley Township
for a signed contract with Clin-
ton for any fire calls in the
northern part of Stanley.
• This aroused considerable dis-
cussion', and finally the Clerk
was directed to advise Stanley
Township clerk that our brigade
would assist if called, but does
not desire to enter into a con-
tract, at the present tune,
Cemetery Report
Ald. Wilbert Glidden,' report-
ing for the Cemetery Committee,
stated his men had removed a
questionable tree, at the Ceme-
tery. He also stated he was un-
able to attend the Convention at.
Guelph.
Ald. D, M. Pegg, inreporting
for hospitalization, stated one on
direct relief was removed.
Ald. H. E. Hartley read the
finance report for September. It
was adopted.
Old Home Week Policing
The Clerk was directed to send'
forward a copy of the statement
concerning expenses for extra
policing during August 5-9, to
the Old Home Week Committee;
also to forward a ' copy' of the
statement of expense of improv-
ing the Parking Area at the rear
of the Town Hall to the Clinton
and District Chamber of Cont-
merce.
St. Paul's Friendship
Club Holds Meeting
The Friendship Club of St.
Paul's Anglican Church met at
the home of Martha Ellwood on
Wednesday, October 4, A discus-
sion ensued regarding the mak-
ing of two quilts for Helen
Proudfoot.
Following this, the evening was
spent in knitting and sewing. The
next meeting will be held at the
home of Ila Cudmore.

Interesting Meeting
The WA of Ontario St. United
Church met on Tuesday, October
3, in the Church Hall, with the
president, Mrs. C. Venner, in the
chair. The meeting opened with
the singing of a hymn and the
reading of Psalm 731 responsiv-
ely, and repeating the 'Lord's
Prayer in unison,
The devotions were conducted
by Mrs. C. Martin, opening with
a hymn and prayer, and taking
as her subject "Thanksgiving.
She closed with the Hymn "Come
let us sing of a wonderful love,'
Mrs. Venner gave a reading,
"Thanksgiving Meditation."
The minutes of the last meet-
ing and various reports were
given. Business was discussed.
The ladies decided to cater to
the Orange Lodge on November
6, and to the Holstein Breeders
on October 26.
Mrs. Treleaven favoured the
ladies with two lovely instru-
mentals and Mrs. R. Bell gave a
most enjoyable reading.
