They were from St. Marys,
Stratford, Mitchell, ' Seaforth,
Clinton and Milverton,
The team of Ernie .Prid ham and
George MacEwan, Goderich, won
the cup for lawn bowling, while
R. S. Newell and W. Hare St.
Marys, finished second. Some 20
bowlers competed..
About 40 engaged in the golf-
ing conrlpetltr!ons at Maitland
Golf Club. Winning team was
Messrs. Martin, Odbert, Louch
and White, St. Marys. Other win-
ners at golf were: Low gross, Dr.
Walter A. Oakes, 'Clinton; second
low gross, William Elliott, Mit-
chell; low net, Clare Odbert, St.
Marys; second low net, Del Louch,
St. Marys.
A lunch et the Maitland club
house ended the day. Deputy
District Governor James II. Kin-
kead, Goderich, presented the
prizes. Ed. Jessop and Doug.
Mooney were in charge of the

MacEwan and "Nip" Whetstone

Listowel Wins First
Of OBA Semi -Finals
"Whitey'" Wilson and Bobby
Tompkins are heroes after pro-
pelling Listowel Legionnaires to
a thrilling ten -inning, 8-7 vic-
tory over Wallaceburg in the first
game of the OBA Intermediate
"B" semi-finals. The second game
in a best -of -three series will be
played in Wallaceburg on Satur-
day.
About 1,500 fens jammed the
bleachers in Memorial Park, List-
owel, for this hectic diamond
tussle. They went home talking
to themselves for they saw every-
thing from a run -scoring balk to
costly errors, fine fielding and
timely hitting.

Plans Quilting Bee
The WA of Clinton Presby-
terian Church met at the home
of Mrs. William-"Shaddock on
Tuesday, October 3. There was
a large attendance and two visit-
ors were present.
The meeting opened with the
singing of a hymn. The president
read the 100th Psalmfollowed
by prayer. Mrs. Maxwell, sec-
retary -treasurer, read her re-
ports.
There was some discussion in
regard to quilting and arrange-
ments were made for a quilting
to be held at the home of Mrs.
Robert McEwen on Wednesday,
October 11, at 1,30 p.m. It was
decided that all. accounts should
be paid. The next meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs.
Malcom McTaggart with Mrs.
Lane end Mrs. Scott as co -
hostesses.
Mrs. D. J. Lane extended an
invitation to all ladies present
to attend the Mission Band Rally
at the Presbyterian Church on
October 7, at 2.30 p.m. A hymn
and the Lord's Prayer, repeated
in unison, closed the meeting.
Mrs. Shaddock, assisted by

At Badminton Club
Arrangement have been made
to provide instruction for begin-
ners—male or female—who be-
come members of Clinton Bad-
minton Club. Classes will be
held at 7 p.m., on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, on the Town Hall
courts, with Flying Officer Harry
Holmes, former Alberta champ-
ion, as instructor.
Badminton play got under way
Tuesday evening with a number
of new faces, and will continue
Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
