grand championship of the
WOAA.
The winners meet Wheatley for
the Ontario "B" championship,
possibly with the first game 'on
Saturday.
The Clinton kids did a good
job in defeating Elora here Tues-
day 12-4. After Shaws had run
up a 6-0 lead, the visitors put
across four runs in the sixth on
three walks, a hit batsman, and
two safe hits, to draw within
two runs.
However, the 'local youngsters
found their batting eyes in the
seventh and eighth and added two
and four counters, respectively.
Jerry Tebbutt, Clinton lead-off
man, was best at bat with ,three
singles in five, but Bob Carrick
had twosafe ones and they were
both homers—unfortunately with
no one aboard. One came in the
second and the other in the
eighth. "Rickey" Elliott had two
in three.
Southpaw Bob Carrick shone
on the mound for Clinton, with
no less than 22 strikeouts in
nine innings, but he issued seven
bases on balls and hit one bats-
man. Playford, for Elora, whif-
fed 15 Shaws in eight frames.
Despite the heavy rain of the
night before, the diamond was
in not bad shape, but there were
plenty of puddles at the screen
and elsewhere, demanding con-
tinual drying of baseballs.

Township Kids Out
By 'Executive Order
An executive order of the
WOAA has eliminated Goderich
Township Peewees from further
baseball competition this season.
The Township kids lost their
first game at Wingham by a big
score, but the second was post-
poned on account of rain. The
London Free Press reported yest-
erday that "Wingham Peewees
took the first game of the OBA
playdowns. at Wihgliam Tuesday,
edging Petrolia'' 11-10," with the
second game at Petrolia Friday.
Some 'of the Goderich Township
team's supporters think there is
"no justice" ' somewhere.

The men were arguing about
great inventors. One said Steph-
enson, who invented the loco-
motive and made fast travel pos-
sible, was the greatest. Another
declared it was the man who in-
vented the compass, which en-
abled man to navigate the seas.
Another spoke up for Edison.
Still 'another for the Wrights.
Finally one of them turned to a
little man who had remained
silent.
"What do you think?"
"Well," he said with a smile,
"the man who invented interest
interest was no fool,"
