WEDDINGS
HOWATT—McNALL
A pretty wedding was solem-
nized in the United Church
Manse, Londesboro, where Rev
S. H. Brenton united in mar-
riage, Delores Violet, eldest dau-
ghter of Mrs, Pearl McNall, Blyth,
and the late Trooper Jack Mc -
Nail, to James David Hewett,•
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer
Howatt, R.R. 1, Auburn.
The bride was lovely in a gown
of pink taffeta, fashioned with
fitted bodice and short sleeves.
The bouffant skirts had an over-
skirt of matching, embroidered
sheer. She wore a small black
hat, and a corsage of white roses.
Miss Bernice McN'all was her
sister's maid of honor, and Miss
Marie McDonald was bridesmaid,
Their gowns were pastel shades'
of nylon marquisette, Miss Mc-
Neil in green and Miss McDonald.
in blue,
Gordon Howatt was his bro-
ther's best man.
A wedding breakfast followed
in the Memorial Hall, Blyth,
George McNeil, uncle of the
bride, was toastmaster. Follow-
ing the adinner and a reception,
Mr. and Mrs. Ilowatt left by
motor for a trip through South-
ern Ontario, the bride travelling
in a wine gabardine suit with'
black accessories.
On their return they will re-

The Deflated Enevlope
"Are there any questions about
our company you would like to
ask?" suggested the genial per-
sonnel man.
"Well, yes," replied the young
man who was rather too far-
• sighted. "You say you , have 43
• stenographers. Do you allow any-
one to take up office collections

But surely you don't keep two

"No," he replied, "but how can
I ever convince the political
police I don't?" •

Entrants Restricted
In Big Plowing, Match
Prospects of a. phenomenal
entry list in this year's Inter-
national Plowing . Match, near
Alliston, Simcoe County, October
10-13, have made it necessary to
restrict competitors, Roy Shaver,
Finch, president of the Ontario
Plowmen's Association announces.
Only plowmen who have won
a at a .raze local l or county
match at some time, will be
eligible to compete in the event,
Mr. Shaver discloses. It'may be
necessary in future . years, to
have been a winner, at a county
match immediately preceding the
International event, '
The decision to restrict entries
in this way was reached •at a
meeting of the prize -list com-
mittee the other day. It was
stipulated that the restrictions
apply only to Ontario plowmen,
however. The match is open to
the world. Any competitor out-
side of the province is eligible to
enter.,
Mr. Shaver explains that t h e
chief aim of the match is to raise
standards of. plowing. This, along
with an unprecedented entry list,
has made the change necessary,
he explained. County and local
plowing matches are planned for
all 'parts of the province and
those who have not yet won a
prize and who are desirous of
competing in the big international
next October, are urged to enter
their local match. Local com-
petitions open in September.
