Clinton Captures
WOAA Bantam 44A"
`Clinton Shaws knocked off
Listowel Shells in two straight
games to capture the WOAA
Bantam "A" baseball champ-
ionship for 1950, and qualify
to play in the firstround of
the OBA 'Bantam "B" play -
downs.
Jim Chowen's kids took the
measure of Cully Rocker's hope-
fuls 10-4 here Monday after-
noon, and in the return match in
Listowel yesterday atfernoon. won
by 10-7.
.In winning the title, the local
youngsters played a good brand
of baseball, and at the same
time, behaved like gentlemen on
the diamond. Their team spirit
has been excellent, and . every
player seems to be working for
the team as a whole. The Listowel
snanagennent- congratulated them
heartily and wished them well in
their quest for an. Ontario title.
Young Bob Carrick had the
heavy load of pitching both games
in the series, end he was a pretty
tired boy last night. The south-
paw allowed few hits, but walk-
ed quite a number. His support
was good in both fixtures.
Holtzman was on the mound
for Listowel in the first game,
and -Torn Moffat in the second,
but their backing was sketchy at
times. However, Shaws were
forced to fight ell the way to
keep on top.

dark when the match finished.
The Legionettes played a much
improved brand of ball,
On the whole, the local girls
did well for their first year in
intermediate •company, finishing
third in the standing. They
played in a group consisting of
teams possessing much greater
age and experience. Most of the

• Colts 25 -Exeter 1
Colts could do nothing wrong
and Exeter nothing right as the
Clintonians •'marched to a 25-1
walkaway. here Monday. And in
so doing, Colts racked up no
less than 22 hits with everyone
pretty well in on the spree. Exe-
ter's play in the field left much
to be desired.
