800 Veterans, 11 Legion Branches In Parade
THE HUGE PARADE' that marked observances on Sunday, August 6, of Clinton; Old Boys'
Reunion was made up of 800 marching Canadian Legionnaires comprising 11 branches of the
Canadian Legion,' taking part in a drumhead service. They were led to Clinton Community

Mrs. Parker Honoured
On 91st Birthday
Marks 91st Birthday
Last weekend was a very
happy one for Mrs. .Charles
Parker who on Sunday marked
her 91st birthday. She received
many cards and gifts and her
home was filled with beautiful
flowers sent by her numerous
friends,
On Saturday afternoon, her
cousin, Mrs. M. Searle, Hespeler,
accompanied by her nephew,
Howard Johnston, Alberta, visit-
ed Mrs. Parker. On Sunday af-
ternoon and evening, friends in
the village dropped in and the
following children: Clara (Mrs.
E. A. Featherston) Chris, John,
Margaret (Mrs. Larson, et home),
Louise (Mrs. Harold King), Belle
(Mrs. George Reid), and William,
with their husbands and wives
spent some time with their moth-
er. Percy and Beulah (Mrs,
Len Smith), were not able to be
present.
No celebration had been plan-
ned but pleasure was added to
the occasion on Sunday after-
noon, when Mrs. Alice Lucas,
son Fred, and daughter Mabel,
Brussels, cousins of the late
Charles Parker, called to add
their 'best wishes. The two fam-
ilies had never met before but
the Lucas family heard Don
Fairbairn broadcast the con-
gratulations of the Clinton News

oriel Hospital, Seaforth.
Mission Band to Meet
The Mission Band will hold the
August meeting next Sunday
morning, August 20 at ten o'clock
in the basement of the chprch.

The regular meeting of the
WMS was held in the Church
Sunday School room on Thursday
Iast. Mrs. Webster, leader of
group No. 1, took the chair.
The program was followed as
was in the Missionary. Monthly.
Those taking part were Mrs. J.
Armstrong, Mrs. W. Lyon and
Mrs. Webster. Miss Phyllis Mc-
Cool sang a solo. The president,
Mrs. Frank Tamblyn, then took
the chair.
Mrs. Mary Grierson gave a
talk on how the Miissionaries
got out of Korea, and also read
portions of letters received from
Korea. Mrs, M. Manning read a
piece on Christian Stewardship.

About 40 met met at the farm
of Lorne Coleman on Monday
evening of this week end stooked
his entire crop. Mr. Coleman is
at present in a London hospital
seriously ill. We hope for a
speedy recovery.
St. John's to Reopen
St. John's Anglican Church,
Varna. will be officially reopen-
ed Sunday evening at seven
o'clock, •after having -been closed
for several weeks for repairs and
redecoration. Dr. A. H. O'Neil,
principal of Huron •College, will
be guest speaker. Special music
will be provided.
