Entertains Turner's
The August meeting of the
WMS of Ontario St. Church was
held at the home of Mrs. G. 5.
Fear on. Tuesday, August 1', with
the Turner's Clhurch ladies as
our guests. Mrs. M. Wiltse pre-
sided in the absence of Mrs.
Holmes and used the liven,
"Zion's King Shall Reign Vic-
torious," and Psalm 699, follow-
ed by the Lord's Prayer, as her
opening to the meeting.
Miss Sybil Courtice conducted
the devotional period using as her
subjbet "What the Bible means
to us", and reminding, us how
neglectful we are of it as our
"Open Door" to spiritual power
and reminding us too that once
In a lifetime it is our privilege
as Canadian Christian,Workers
to entertain the World Confer-
ence of Christian 'Education,
5,000 or more strong, in Toronto,
this August. This part of the
meeting was closed by prayer
by Miss Courtice, followed by
the hymn, "0 For A Thousand
Tongues to Sing,"
Enjoyable Recital
Held in W -W Church
An enjoyable musical recital
was a Saturday evening feature
of the Old Boys' Reunion in
Wesley -Willis United Church.
Several hundred citizens and
"old boys" were present to listen
to ;a vaitiety program of fine
music. The recital was sponsor-
ed by the Girls' Club of the
church.
The program consisted of the
following: organ solo, "Sanctuary
of the Heart," Mrs. Agnew: vocal
solo, "He Shall Feed His Flock,"
Mrs. R. P. Robbins; violin and
organ, "Solace," Sgt. A. R. Per -
Fall and Mrs. Agnew: piano
solo, Miss Peggy O'Neil; vocal
solo, "The Holy City," Miss Viola
Fraser; organ solo, "Londonderry
Air," Mrs. Agnew; a chime num-

The engagement is announced
of Helen Joyce, youngest daugh-
ter of Mr. T. W. R. Taylor, Till-
sonburg, and the late Mrs. Tay-
lor, to Robert Henry, son of Mrs.
Beale, Trenton. and the late Mr.
P. M. Beale. The marriage will
take place in ieptember.

niece, Kathleen Rose Martin,

Mrs. R. Kirkby and Mrs. K.
Gallagher.
The usual reports were given
and dealt with. It was decided
that the vice-presidents would
carry on until Mrs. Holmes would
be back with us again, Mrs.
Wiltse gave a word of welcome
to our guests and Mrs. O'Brien,
President of the Tuckersmith
Lathes' Club, assisted Mrs. Wiltse
with the program, which con-
sisted of a solo by Miss Carol
Pepper; Watch Tower items by
Miss Eleanor laturnsteel, with
emphasis on the growth of Clin-
ton up to its 75th birthday which
we celebrated, this week; piano
solo by Mrs., William Rogerson;
a regime of part of the book "We
found the Church there",with
emphasis on the story of issions
in the Solomon Islands, was ably
given by Miss Hattie Turner.
Mrs. Aiken moved a vote of
thanks to the hostess, Miss Cour-
lice, and all those who helped
with the program. A hymn fol-
lowed by the Mizpah closed the
meeting after which lunch was
served by the WMS executive.

Recent Bride Feted
Prior to Marriage
Friends and relatives of Miss
Mildred Myers, bride of Satur-
day, August 5, gathered at the
home of Mrs. William Grigg on
Wednesday evening, August 2,
and honoured' the young lady
With a miscellaneous shower.
An umbrella. gaily decorated
with pink crepe paper,hung from
the archway and to it were at-
tached streamers bearing poems
which indicated where t h e
bride-to-be would find her gifts.
Many beautiful and useful gifts
were received. During the even-
ing a bride's book was passed
around.
Delicious refreshments rounded
out a very pleasant evening, the
hostess being assisted by Mrs.
Parker, Mrs. Schoenhals and Mrs.
Corriveau.
Another social function hon-
ouring Miss Myers was a trous-
seau tea given at the home of
Mrs. Russell Holmes on Thursday
evening last.
The gifts and trousseau were
displayed by Mrs. Schoenhals and
Mrs. Lockhart. Mrs. H. D. Cam-
eron poured tea and the assist-
ants were Mrs. William Grigg
and Mrs. Agnes Moon.
