DR. J. W. SHAW
Mayor 1899
' •Clinton's white brick Town Hall was built in 1880. Since
that time it has been in the service of the community, although
there have been some changes in the interior. This building
houses the Council Chamber, a Board Room, the Town Clerk's
Office, the office of the Chief of Police, a large auditorium
where numerous community gatheringsare held, a Fire .Hall
which houses the modern equipment secured in 1949, and the
cells where those who misbehave can be kept in custody.

MODERN EQUIPMENT
Makes Easy Work
of Harvesting
The ease, speed and economy of harvesting nowadays typifies
the change in. farming that has come with new and better,
equipment.
Through progress in implement engineering the burden of
farm work has been transferred from muscles to machines—
with decided advantages physically, socially and economically
to those engaged in agriculture.
Latest machines like the Massey -Harris self-propelled combine
.have established a new appreciation of the importance of
.mechanization and a realization that farming with modern
power machines is easier and more profitable,

Unharmed
At the public library a small
shaver presented a . well-worn,
dirty volume at the desk. The
librarian glanced at the book,
leaned forward to take in the
size of the boy and 'asked, "This
is rather technical, isn't it?”
Planting his feet firmly'on the
floor, the boy, half defiant, half
apologetic, retorted, "It was that
way when I got it, ma'am."
