Harry Bartliff started this business
in a small way in December 1902 in
the store now occupied by Hawkins
Hardware and moved to the, present
corner site on the northwest corner of
Albert and Rattenbury Sts, in Septem-
ber 1906.
In January 1946, his three sons --
Elliott, Bruce and Douglas—purchosed
the business, with Mr. Bartliff continu-
ing to be associated with the business
until the present time.
In March 1949, extensive re-
modelling of the interior took place,

CLINTON
BERT GLJDDON started business in a. small way and
with little capital in June 1937, having purchased a pressing
business operated by Howard Clark for four years. The
building, shown above, which was located on the site of
Ashton's. Taxi stand on Victoria St., had been Clinton's
first Post Office. Later, he moved to the building. behind
the Post Office,
TODAY, Gliddon Cleaners occupies the modern dry-
cleaning and pressing plant situated on King St., south of
Wesley -Willis Church. Including Bert Gliddon, there are
four persons on the staff. This plant is equipped with
the most modern facilities for giving Clinton and district
service unexcelled anywhere.
