CLINTON NEWS -RECORD -- OLD BOYS' SOUVENIR EDITION
COLTS WALLOP
LIJCAN TEAM
IN RETURN GAME
Clinton Colts walked into I,uean
Thursday evening last with the
idea they might have a pretty
tough time with the boys from
that town' in their Huron -Perth
rsaseh'n League fixture, but they
kit with a 9-1 veediot in their,
favour. A big six -hit six -run
fourth inning told the story.
Appleton started on toe mound
for Lucan, but gave way to Ball
in the midst of ne fourth -inning
barrage of the Colts. Bob Draper
went the route for Clinton and
allowed only six hits, two of them
coming together in the fourth for
l.ucan's only run of the game.
Bill Craig, the club's leading
hitter for the season, was top
man with the willow with three
in four and two runs. His field-
ing effort in the centre garden
was de luxe. Bartliff and Drap-

GORDIE STOCK REPLIES
• The NEWS -RECORD'S senior
baseball writer last week dared
question Manager Gordie Stock
of Clinton Colts in his placing
the team's leading batter (Bill
Craig .518) in, the fifth slot in
the batting order. Commenting
drily, Gordie produced his fam-
ous slow grin and said: "Red
Rolfe of the Detroit Tigers does
it." And Business Manager and
Statistician "Shim" Livermore
produced volumes of statistics to
prove we were wrong. Perhaps
we were, perhaps we weren't, but
we'll let it go at that.
