The poultry operations were confined to the brick section and the grain' busi- ness was continued for a few years. Gradually, the poultry business expanded, serving the Whole County of Huron. This required more space with .the result that thegroin business was discontinued. The egg business grew up in this plant, It was one of the first plants to begin grading eggs as' received from the producer. The first Canadian• grade standards for poultry were developed either right in Clinton or on poultry shipped out of Clin- ton to Montreal where the product was inspected before final distribution. As poultry volume increased, this was the first plant in Canada to instal'. an automatic semi -scald tank and conveyor system for dressing poultry. It also was the PHONE 580 • first plant in Canada to have a mechanical hand -picker, The latest and most up-to-date piece of equipment is an electric killer and bleeder. CREAMERY— Gun-Langlois purchased Clinton Creamery in 1927 from W. G. Medd. The following year the company became part of the firm now known as Canada Pack- ers Limited. FEED MILL— In 1936, Canada Packers Limited, purchased the Clinton -Feed Mill from George Murdock. To -day, the firm operates these three modernized plants in Clinton, serving an increasing number of producers in Western Ontario. Department Heads— Manager—G, R.
