With a last -stage three -run rally in the eighth to defeat the con- tending Liman team 7-4 in a, Huron -Perth Baseball League Match in Community Park Tues- day evening before one of' the largest crowds of the season. It was good baseball up until the eighth when both teams let loose with some fancy infield bungling. The top of the inning presented Lucan with three !counters, and the tieRom 'end gave Clinton also a trio. So the two teams broke even in he bad stuff. Otherwise, Freddy MacDonald, on the mound for Clinton, and Ball, on the hill for Lucan, con- ducted a real nice pitchers' battle, which was punctuated by the pungent remarks of some local fans anent a running verbal Laurie Colquhoun, Colt receiv- er, had the unique , distinction of being hit three times by pitcher and thus had only one official time at bat. That's about as often as we would like to see it in any one game. Ball had plenty of speed and, stuff, but was a little hotheaded and erratic and spoiled a nice show by his tactics. The writer still rates him as among the best three or four flingers in the H -P. In the last of the eighth, with two out, he attempted to tag Woodcock going down .to first, but he droppell the ball and two runners—MacDonald and Bart- liff—crossed the plate. Previous- ly, Bartliff had knocked in Laurie Colquhoun with the fifth which proved to be the winning run, so the two -run bauble actually Souvenirs of Clinton ASH TRAYS and DUTCH SHOES in pottery' 25c ASH TRAYS, VASES and PITCHERS in pottery 29c ELEPHANTS, FISH, OLD SHOES, MUGS, DOGS 35c LEATHER GOODS in Change Purses, Billfolds, Tie Racks, Snapshot Albums, Writing Cases, Pencil Cases, Comb Cases, etc. . 25c to 1.75 SCRAP BOOKS, ALBUMS, ADDRESS and TELEPHONE BOOKS, BRIDGE SCORE PADS, RECIPE FILING BOOK, GUEST BOOK priced 25c to 75c All Items Marked with "Clinton, Ont." NOTE to Gordie Stock: "Beg pardon, sahl" but don't you think the leading batter of the team— Bill Craig whose clip is an even .500—rates better than fifth posi- tion in the line-up?
