Mrs. Walter Grierson and two children, Charles and Anne, Wat- erloo, are spending this week with Mrs. F. A. Edwards. Miss D. Reinke, Hamilton, Mrs. Smith and two children, Claire and Mark, Cleveland, are guests at The New Ritz Hotel. Donald Cameron and daughter, Miss Ethel Cameron, Northville, Mich., spent the weekend with his sister, Miss Elizabeth Cameron. Rev, and Mrs. LaVerne Morgan and two children left on Sunday to spend a ten days' vacation with the former's parents at Watford, Mrs. Frank Burch and three children, Mr.' and Mrs. Neil Mustard and two children. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blauman and two children, Birmingham, Mich., are 'occupying the Me- Combe cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Dicktheir guests, Ernst,• Birmingham, are David Bauer, St. Michael's Col- lege, Toronto, is spending a fort- night with his parents. Mr. and Mrs, E. J. Bauer. Mrs. Frang Bauer, Kitchener, is also 'their guest this week. Mrs. E. A. Suppnick, Detroit, is at her cottage, "Holley Lodge." Her daughter, Mrs. R. Stephenson and three children, Lynn, Ar- thur and Carl, Tabor. N.Y. are visiting her. Miss Holley Louise Suppnick, Detroit, was also with them over the weekend. Successful Sale A very successful rummage sale was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening last. Miss C. P. Rankin organized the affair splendidly for the benefit of the Pioneer Park Association. Suffered Fracture Mrs. F. Hendrick and son, Birmingham, Mich., came on Mon- day to spend' a few, days at "Westwind." Miss Fairbairn, who has been in Clinton Public Hos- pital for several weeks, having suffered a fractured shoulder, re- turned to her cottage on Tuesday. Retiring to "Layfield Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cam- eron are at their cottage on the Blue Water Highway. Mr. Cam- eron has retired from the To- ronto Public School staff, having served as principal of Earlseourt school for a number ofyears, and i3 building a permanent home here. Children Have Fun Mrs. E. A. Davies entertained eight children on Tuesday after- noon in honour of her niece, Miss Kathleen Brackett's tenth birth- day. The children enjoyed games on the lawn and supper was served in the dining room. Cpl. and Mrs. E. Ewen and Stuart McEwen, spending a vacation with their aunt, United Church Meeting The United Church women held their July meeting at the home of Mrs. Robert Greer on Thurs- day of last week. There was an excellent attendance and the meetings were very interesting, A solo by -Mrs. Kingsbury, "Lord, for tomorrow and its needs," was enjoyed; also a short historical sketch of the WMS during the 25 years since the United Church was organized, by Mrs. Robert Scotehmer. Amongst other plans, the WA decided to hold a silver anniversary tea, at the Parson- age on August 20, and also set the date for the annual bazaar and tea, August 5. The treasurer reported about $100 cleared at the July 1 supper. A very delightful lunch was served by the com- mittee: Mrs. Robert Greer, Mrs. Bert Greer, Mrs. C. H. Scotehmer,. Mrs. G. Westlake, Mrs. L. Talbot and Mrs. Renner, Successful Orange Service A service was held for the Orangemen of Huron County on the evening of Sunday, July 2, in St. Andrew's United Church. Over 100 members of the Order were in attendance, meeting in the Orange Hall and marching to the church, where they were ad- dressed by Rev. Peter .Renner, who took as his text, "Ye should be witnesses unto me"; also the words written at the beginning of the Orange Constitution and taken from Ex, 18: "and thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk and the work that they must do." Mr, Renner stressed the fact that as members of the Order they had all pledged themselves to do these things and he called on them to keep their nromises. The singing by the choir of ook to the Lighthouse'; and a solo by Thomas Merritt, Hen- sall, "The Stranger of Galilee," added to the interest of the ser- vice. The lodges were led by the band from Woodham as they marched around the Square on their way back to their hall. Residing in Tuckersmith I— BRUCEFIELD (Intended for last week) Successful Festival A ,chicken and strawberry fes- tival was held on the lawn of Brucefield United Church under the auspices of the Board of Managers of the church Thurs- day last. Over 400 people were served and the proceeds amounted to $325. After the supper there was a program of songs, readings and instrumentals by local talent assisted by Hart Walker, Sea - forth, with Rev. E. R. Stanway as chairman, ' Successful Picnic S.S. No. 1.0, Stanley, held a very successful picnic on the sehooi grounds last Wednesday.
