ZELENUIK=-McINTYRE
A lovely summer wedding took
place on Saturday, June 3, at
1 p.m., when Rev. W. J. Woolfrey
united in marriage Jean Annetta
McIntyre and John Zelenuik,
Rivers, Man. The bride is the
younger daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
H. A. McIntyre, Clinton, and the
groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Stefan Zelenuik, Hines Creek,
Alta. The ceremony was per-
formed out-of-doors at the home
of the bride's • parents, beneath
an arch trimmed with purple
lilacs and white bells,
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore ;a fiber -length
gown of turquoise tissue faille
with, a deep cowl neckline, long.
sleeves. and a side drape. She
wore a matching headdress
trimmed with lily -of -the valley
and carried a bouquet of deep
purple lilacs and lily -of -the -val-
ley against a, fan -shaped back-
ground of white plumes,
The bride's only attendant was
her sister, Mrs. Gerald'II. Nelson,
St. Catharines, who wore a pale
pink gown identical to the bride's
and carried a similarly -styled
bouquet.
John McIntyre, Clinton, brother
of the bride, was best man.
For the reception which fol-
lowed in the living room of the
bride's home, Mrs. McIntyre re-
ceived the guests in a, street -
length dress of beige tissue faille
with a corsage of Lestra Hibbard
roses. The bride's grandmother,
Mrs. Jenkins, assisted, wearing a
street -length turquoise dress and
a corsage of pink roses.
For travelling the bride don-
ned a navy gabardine suit with
navy accessories and a corsage of
gardenias. The young couple will
presently take up residence in
Brandon, Man.
GAEDT--ELLIOTT
Milford (Mich.) Methodist
Church was the setting for a
wedding of interest in this local-
ity on Saturday, June 3, 1950,
when Rev. Hedley Bennett unit-
ed in marriage Wanda M, Elliott,
and Raymond E. Gaedt. The bride
is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.
it Elliott, Milford, Mich., and
the groom is a son of Mr. Ernest
Gaedt, Milford, and Mrs. Hugh
Irwin,°Lansing, Mich, The bride
is a granddaughter of Mrs. M. E.
Jacob, Clinton, and the date
chosen for the ceremony was Mrs.
Jacob's wedding anniversary.
For the double -ring ceremony
the bride chose a white nylon
organdy ballerina -length gown
with cap sleeves and plunging
.neckline. Her only jewellery -was
the locket worn by her great-
grandmother on her wedding day.
Enclosed in the locket was a piece
of her great grandmother's wed-
ding dress. The bride carried a
colonial bouquet of white roses
and lily -of -the -valley.
Attending the bride, as matron
of honour was Mrs. Jack Fremlin,
Jr., Milford, sister of the groom,
who wore a yellow gown with
white Dutch cap and carried a
bouquet of white roses.
William Inkley, Clinton, broth-
er-in-law of the bride, was best
man.
For the reception which fol-
lowed Mrs. Elliott chose a navy
frock with white accessories, the
groom's mother wore a figured
navy, also with white accessories,
and Mrs. Jacob, the bride's grand-
mother, close. a grey figured
dress with black accessories and
a gardenia corsage.
'The bride's travelling corsage
was white roses. After spending
their honeymoon at Bayfield the
young couple will take upresi-
dence on Middle Rd., Milford.
HANEY—EARLE
Gladys Alicia, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Earle, Egmond-
vide,, became the bride of Lloyd
Haney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mat-
thewR., Haney, Tuelcersmith, in
St. Thomas' Anglican Church,
Seaforth, with Rev. T. Dale Jones
officiating before the chance
steps banked with spring flow-
ers. M. R. Rennie was at the
organ„ and Mrs. J. Brown Higgins
sang.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a elem.-
length gown of white slipper
satin with lace yoke and long
lily pointed sleeves. Her finger-
tip veil was held by a satin
Dutch cap, and : she carried a
fan bouquet of Briarcliffe roses
and white carnations, •
Mrs: Robert A. Gemmell, as
her sister's matron of hopor, and..
Miss Mayda Mueller as brides-
maid, wore similarly styled gowns
of orchid. and turquoise nylon
marquisette with fitted bodices,
full skirts, and headdresses of tiny
spring flowers. Their bouquets
were of carnations and sweet
peas.
The groom's brother, Clair
Haney, attended him,, and the
ushers were another brother,
Warden Haney, and Harry Earle,
brother of the bride.
A reception was. held at the
Commercial Hotel, Seaforth.
The bride's travelling costume
for the wedding trip to Toronto
was a navy gabardine suit with
navy and white accessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Haney will reside
in Tuckersmith.
REMPEL—FINES
Ontario St. United Church,
Clinton, was the setting for an
interesting weddnig Saturday af-
ternoon, June 10, when Joan /El-
len, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. E. A. Fines Clinton, became
the bride of Paul Rempel, young-
est son of Mrs. Rempel and the
late A. 'Rempel, St. Catharines.
The choir loft of the church
was banked with standards of
spirea, lupin, pink carnations and
iris for the ceremony which. was
performed by Rev. W. J. Wool-
frey. Wedding music was play-
ed by Mrs. J. W. Treleaven.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was attractively
gowned in pink dotted organza,
pink poke bonnet with matching
shoulder -length veil. She carried
a nosegay of sweetheart roses and
sweet peas.
Miss EdnaBayley, Clinton,
Wearing blue organdy, small white
bonnet with matching veil, and
carrying a nosegay of sweetheart
roses and sweet peas, acted as
bridesmaid.
The groomsman was Reginald
Holmes, Port Dalhousie, and the
ushers were Eldo Wahi, St, Cath-
arines, and Robert Fines, brother
of the bride, Clinton,
Before the ' ceremony, Miss
Coronna Wendorf sang "Because."
During the signing of the register,
she rendered "Through the Years."
At the reception following, at,
the home of the bride's parents,
Mrs. Fines, mother of the bride,
gowned in rose beige crepe with
navy blue accessories and corsage
of yellow roses and Mrs. Rempel,
mother of the groom, wearing
navy blue flowered silk. black
accessories and corsage of yellow
roses, assisted the young couple
in receiving the guests.
Later, the happy couple left
by motor for a honeymoon in
Muskoka. The bride chose for
travelling a dress of black nylon
sheer, white hat and black and
white accessories, and corsage of
pink roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Rempel will make
their home in St. Catharines.

Presbyterian WA Has
Successful _Meeting
The WA of Clinton Presbyterian
Church met at the home of Mm
Malcolm McTaggart. on Wednes-
day afternoon, June 7, with a
good attendance. Due to the
absence of the president, Mrs.
William Shaddpck, the vice-presi-
dent, Mrs D. J. Lane, presided
at the meeting, Mrs. Lane. read
the 8th psalm, gave a short talk
and led in prayer.
The 'secretary -treasurer, Mrs.
Alan Maxwell, read her reports.
It was decided that all outstand-
ing bills be paid. Ladies were
appointed to look after flowers
in the church 'during July. The
bazaar held under the auspices
of this society with the help of
the_Gils' Club was a gratifying
success and the proceeds larger
than ever before. The ladies are
very appreciative of all who
helped to make it so successful.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Roberton on
Wednesday, September 6.
Mrs. Clifton contributed • a
humourous reading "The Ladies'
Aid." The Lord's Prayer in
unison closed the meeting after
which tea was served by Mrs,
McTaggart, assisted by Miss Shaw
and Mrs. Lane.
PRESBYTERIAN WMS
The WMS of Clinton Presby-
terian Church will meet on. Tues-
day, June 20, at 3 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. Eddie Farquhar,

Ontario St. WA Hears
Excellent Reports
The WA of Ontario St. United
Church met on Wednesday, June
7, in the _Church Hall, with the
president, Mrs. C. Vernier, in the
chair. The meeting opened with
the singing of a hymn, the read-
ing of a psalm responsively and
the repeating in unison of the
Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. Wooifrey had charge of
the devotional period, opening
with a hymn and taking as a.
topic, "Worship and Prayer"
The various reports were given
and business discussed. It was
decided to cancel the meetings
for July and August. The WA
was asked for a donation of
clothing to be sent to the Council
Chamber' within the next week..
Miss Corona Wendorf favour-
ed the ladies with an instrumen-
tal and a pleasing solo. Miss
Marlene Jervis played two lovely
instrumentals and Miss Margaret
Ellen Lawson also played a piano
number, all of which were great-
ly enjoyed.
The meeting closed with the
singing of a hymn and the Miz-
pah Benediction. The ladies of

his home after spending the past
six weeks in Bayfield with his

Mrs. D. J. Lane took part in
the service of the WMS of Car-
mel Presbyterian Church, Hen-
sel, last week, commemorating
the 60th anniversary of the So-
ciety's formation.
Mrs, Ina Vincent and son Frank,
and daughter Miss Annabell, De-
troit, Mich., were weekend visit-
ors with the former's uncle, Ro-
bert McCartney, and Mrs. A.
Rodges.
Mrs. Norman Turner and broth-

are visiting relatives and renew-
ing acquaintances in the district.

While in the city she was the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. George
Scott, the former being at one
time a member of the RCAF Sta-
tion, Clinton.
Prof. D. G. Pitt. M.A., Mrs.
Pitt and their daughter Ruth, are
the guests at the Ontario St.
'United Church Manse. Mrs. Pitt
is the eldest daughter of Rev. and
Mrs. W. J. Woolfrey. Prof. Pitt
is associate professor of English
in the Memorial University of
Newfoundland and is now on
holiday,
Miss Alice Holmes, a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London, had
a pleasant surprise recently when
Miss Audrey Smith, Calgary, Alta,,
visited her. Miss Smith had flown
from Toronto to London to visit
Miss Holmes and on returning
to Torontoshe took the Grey-
hound bus to New York and
thence by boat travelled to the
Bahama Islands.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Layton,
Mr. and Mrs, Frank 'Walters. and
Mrs. Helen Dalrymple attended
the funeral of the late C. M.
Rintoui in Wingham on Tuesday.
Mr. Rintoui a former member
of Petawawa Military camp, met
a tragic death by drowning in
the Ottawa River, His wife is
the former Ruth Walters, a dau-
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott
Walters, Seaforth, who along with
four children are left to mourn
their great loss.

Legion Auxiliary Plans
Sponsor Softball Team
The Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Canadian Legion met in the Leg-
ion Hall, 'Clinton, on 'Monday
evening, June 13.
It was decided ,to sponsor one
of the girls' softball teams with
sweaters and gloves, Plans were
made for a bazaar to be held in
October, and also for a float in
the Old Home Week parade, It
was decided to have a booth at
the horse races in Clinton com-
munity Park.
The Auxiliary is sponsoring a
Tag Day for the Navy League on
Saturday, June 17. Girl Guides
will act as baggers. -
Mrs. Ronald MacDonald gave
an excellent report on the re-
cent convention held in Hamilton,
At the close of the meeting, a
social half hour was enjoyed, by
all present.
Charles leanly has completed
his first year in the honour course
in English Language and Liter-
ature at the University of Toron-
to, Mr. Hanly spent a week in
Guelph as a delegate at the
Student Christian Movement Con-
vention, and after a short visit
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. M. Haniy, has gone to spend
the sumer at Lake Louise, Alta,
Mrs. Holly Lash Visel and sons,
Nelson and John, were guests of
Miss Viola Fraser for the week-
end. Mrs. Visel was musical
director of the junior and adult
choirs of the Palm Springs' Com-
munity Church while Miss Parser
attended there, and is well-known
throughout southern California
for her fine work in training and
directing junior choirs. They left
Sunday to visit Niagara Falls be-
fore 'returning to their summer
home' on Balboa Island, S. Calif.
'Presbyterian Church
Adds New Members
At the Communion service con-
ducted last Sunday in Clinton
Presbyterian Church, the Kirk
JSession received eleven new
members, whose names were ad-
ded to the Communion - Roll.
During the six -months ,period,
'this addition makes 34 persons
uniting with the church. T h e
Bayfield Session received five
additiori'al members the same day.
The Men's Club is to be con-
gratulated on the work it has
expended on the lawns which are
now levelled and planted in
grass. The front doors of the
church are receiving a new °oat
of paint. The meetings of the
Club are suspended now until
the second week' in September.

Hospital Aid Holds
Its Monthly Meeting
The monthly meeting of Clin-
ton Hospital Aid was held on
June 5, with Mrs. D. J. Lane,
first vice-president, in charge,
and a small number present.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read by the secretary.
The financial report was given
by the treasurer showing a bal-
ance of $923.71.
The Hospital Aid would like
to thank the Girl Guides and all
who helped with cars, or in any
way to make the Hospital Tag
Day a success, making $173.58;
also thanks to the Cubs who
raised $52.85 with a Mile-of-
pennies'on June 3.
The next meeting will be held
in September,
