JUVENILES LOSE
OPENING MATCH
TO DASHWOOD
Entering the top of the fifth
and what proved the last inning,
Clinton Lions Juveniles were
nursing a six -run lead over Dash-
wood in the. opening match of
the WOAA- juvenile baseball
series on the local' diamond Sat-
urday evening.
Then something happeped, and
before the smoke of battle had
cleared away, the visitors had
tallied seven runs and had gone
into a one -run lead with a count
of 11-10.
Yelle went into pitch for
Dashwood and held the Clinton
kids scoreless in the last of the
frame, although Toby Taylor was
on third with the tieing run.
Chief reason given for the up-
set was the changing of several
Clinton players in the last inning.
This strategy of depending on a
large lead back -fired badly, it
would Seem.
Thus, the truth of the old
adage that a ball game is never,
over until the last batter is out
was amply borne out.

Clinton Legion Loses
First to Exeter' Men
Clinton Legioneires dropped
their first game in the new
Legion men's softball league to
Exeter on the RCAF diamond by
14-8 Tuesday evening.
Both teams showed plenty of
promise, and the calibre of soft-
ball in the remainder of the
schedule should be of good
quality.
The Legion team is the only
men's softball team playing here
this year, and the vets are at-
tempting to revive it after two
or •three years' absence. RCAF

Boyd, the Clinton pitcher, was
much too good for St. Marys al-

D. Ellis, but the deciding factor
were the errors behind him
six in all.
Todd was the big gun for Clin-
