Mrs. Lloyd Hemenway and son
William, who were evacuated
three weeks ago from the Fort
Garry area, Winnipeg, to Toron-

The WA of St. James Church,
Middleton, will meet on Wed-
nesday, June 7, at the home of
Mrs, Fred Middleton. There will
be a quilt.
Apple' Prospects
The, blossoms are coming out
very slowly, the weather being
so cold, but there is a good
showing of McIntosh and North-
ern Spy. Other varieties are
light,

evacuated to other points in the

Fractures Her Shoulder
Miss Marion Fairbairn-, Detroit,
arrived on Saturday to open her
home "Weatwind" for the sum-
mer. •Before she had entered the
cottage, she had the misfortune
to slip. on a stone and fall, sus-
taining a fracture to ler left
shoulder. Later, she was taken
to Clinton Public Hospital. Miss
Fairbairn's many friends wish
her - a complete recovery. Her
great nephew, Fred Hendrick, ac-
companied by Bill Thom and J.
Ackerman, Birmingham, Mich.,
motored from Detroit to the vil-
lage with her.

Brucefield and immediate vicin-
ity on Saturday in aid of the
Manitoba Flood Relief. They col-
lected around $150.

At the morning service in Unit-
ed Church Sunday two new eld-
ers, Alvin McBride and Gordon
Richardson, were ordained.
In the evening, Odtl:fellows and
IRebekahs attended service in a
body. There• were many 'visitors
from all lodges in the district.
Rev. E. R. Stanway . delivered a
very forceful sermon, his subject
being "Fear God; Fear not to
touch God." The choir rendered
an anthem and Mrs. 'iltanway sang
a beautiful solo. After the ser-
vice, all returned ;to the lodge
monis where several members
spoke. .
