"We mustn't be selfish, my
deer," said the mother—and loud
enough for her husband to hear.
"After all, fishermen have a lot
of mouths to feed."

BAYFIELD NOTES
MANY CHANGES
(Continued from Page One)
those who walked for his father.
He had sometimes fired for him.
He emembered Ismael Filliol
who was the sawyer at James
Thomson's lumber mill, and spoke
of John Whiddon's flour • mill
and the hill where they went
sleigh -riding. When asked about
celebrations in Bayficld, he
couldn't recall any particular
ones but he said that one could
always be sure of two fights in
the year—on St. Patrick's Day
and the Twelfth of July. And
there had been an exciting fight
between Pi Keegan and Tom
Marks in S. J. Marks eStablish-
ment the night the planing mill
burned.
Mr. Adams visited his old chum
and former • neighbour, Frank
Keegan, and school friends George
King and William L. Ferguson.
And he called on 1VIrs. W. J.
Stinson in time to wish her many
happy returns of her 86th birth-
day on May 23. His elder sister,
Mary, who celebrated the same
birthday the day before were
school friends. And they talked
over old school days when Master
Plunkett wielded the two -tongued
strap upon the slightest provo-
cation, and was hardest on his
own daughters, and other in-
cidents of their childhood.
Many of the old landmarks
such as the mills and T. J
Mark's store and hall have gone
but at his former home he re-
cognized a tree which he had
helped his father plant. He also
visited relatives in Seaforth.
Friday morning Mr. Adams
left on his return trip to Chicago,
happy that he had satisfied the
yearning to return to the scenes
of his childhood and that there
were people here who knew him.
When he went to call on Frank
Keegan, he said: "Hello, Frank,
you don't know me!" After look-
ing at his caller for a few minutes,
Mr. Keegan asked: "You wouldn't
be an Adams, would you?"
James Adams is a surprisingly
well-preserved man and presets
the *appearance of a much young-
- nerson. We hnue that he will
visit us again some time.
