SPORTS THREE CLINTON~ MARKSMEN RANK IN TOP GROUPING The names of 25 Canadians who have qualified for the Dominion Marksmen Expert Shield, highest national award of .22 sportiny rifle shooters, is announced by the headquarters of the Dominion Marksmen organization, • Only e few of the country's rifle shooting enthusiasts are suc- cessful each year in winning the award. They must post dear perfect scores in the prone, sitting or kneeling, and stand- ing positions. Youthful Fishermen Under'14 Get Break At a meeting of Mviaitiand Fish end Game Conservation Club, Goderich, it was agreed unani- mously that Paradise Pond and Cemetery Creek will be open to children only for x'ishing on Sat- urday, May 6,.with the age limit set et 14 years, and the catch at five trout daily, Fishing is open to everyone from May. 7 to 20. The children are urged, "at the crack of dawn," armed with rod and can of worms to try their luck fishing for speckled trout. Directors of the club will be there to supervise the show and count the number and size of the trout taken. J.D. Thorndike Named Legion Sports Officer CanadianThe egion, was held spring Lt zone in Legion, Memorial Heli, Blyth, with Zone Commander George Wilson of Clinton branch presiding. Bruce Smith, president of Blyth branch, conducted the opening ceremonies and George MciKall, Blyth, wel- comed the visiting comrades. District Commander Thomas J. Masters, Stratford, gave en inter- esting address on Legion prob- lems and Legion affairs in general. Zone sports officer Mr. Mc- Donald and sports secretary - treasurer C. Miller both tender- ed their resignations, which were regretfully accepted. J. D. Thorndike, Clinton, was appoint- ed zone sports officer with power to appoint his own secretary - treasurers. Other zone officials present in- cluded department zone comman- der F. Shaw, Brussels; treasurer H. S. Turner, Goderich; secretary 5, D. Thorndike, Clinton. At the conclusion of the meet- ing the visitors were entertained by Blyth branch in the Legion Home.
