Mr. Lockhart has sold his farm
to Dan Pitblado, Colborne Town-
ship, and has bought a home in

Home From Hospital

The regular meeting of Lori-
desboro Women's Institute will
be held in Community Hall,
Thursday afternoon, May 4, et
2.30 sharp. The convener of
Canadian Industries and Agricul-
ture will have charge of the pro-
gram. A good attendance is re-
quested.
Successful. Play
Londesboro Women's Institute
sponsored a play, "Never Say
Dye," which was staged last Fri-
day night by the Blyth players.
The play was quite humourous
and well presented in three acts.
Miss Doris Grierson played in-
strumentals between acts. A
large crowd attended.
Mission Band Meets
The spring thankoffering meet-
ing of the Mary Grierson Mission
Bend was held in the school room
of the United Church. Mrs. W.
J. Rogers, Blyth, was guest
speaker and told the children an
illustrated story. Music was pro-
vided by Marguerite Lyon, Muriel
Shobbrook, and John Shaddick.
Londesboro WA
The regular monthly meeting
of Londesboro WA was held in
the basement of the church on
Thursday, April 20, with the
president, Mrs B. Shobbrook, in
the chair. The opening hymn
was 109, followed by Scripture
and prayer in unison. Hydro 277
was sung. The minutes of last
meeting were read and adopted.
Cards of appreciation were read
from Mrs. Ruddell, Mrs. Derwin
Carter, Mrs. Jack Lee, Mr. and
Mrs. J. Snell and Mr. and Mrs.
T. Adams,
It was decided to buy paint
for the kitchen floor in the
church and also to help the fund
for a Baptismal font. Roll call
was answered 'by roll call sug-
gestions. Next month's roll call
is to be nswerecl by a favourite
supper dish.
Readings were given by Mrs.
3. Lyon and Mrs. Brenton, and
Mrs. 3, Armstrong played a piano
solo. Programme committee for
May—Mrs. J. Crawford, Mrs. J.
Armstrong. Closing hymn was
285 and was followed by bene-
diction, Lunch was served by the
hostesses. There were 21 present.

In London Hospital
Friends are sorry to hear of
the continued illness of Sam
hlewitt, who is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London.
The WA of St. James Church,
Middleton, will meet Wednes-
day afternoon, May 3, at the
home of Mrs. John Grigg. There
will be a quilt. The topic will
be given by Mrs. Charles Cooper.
Successful Party
No; 10 Schoolhouse was the
scene of a successful party last
Friday evening. The first part
of the evening was spent at
euchre with Miss Shirley Cooper
and Mrs. Turner winning the
ladies' prizes; Gordon Turner and
John Middleton, Jr., won the
men's prizes. Gordon Turner re-
ceived the prize for the most
lone hands. A sumptuous lunch
was served. The lucky ticket on
a hamper of Spies donated 'by
Stewart Middleton, was won by
3'. H. Storey, Seaforth.
Dancing until the wee sma'
hours rounded out the evening.
Music was supplied by Welsh's
orchestra and Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Storey with Ken Merner, floor
manager.
Fred. Middleton, who organized
the party in aid of the hydro
fund for St. James Church, is to
be congratulated on its success-

Goshen WMS Meets
Goshen WMS held the Easter
"matin in the church' on the
20th. Mrs. John Armstrong was
in charge of the meeting. The
heron "CM•ist is Risen." 'The
opening hymn, "The Day, of Res-
; urrection after which Scriptures
were read by Mrs. J. McKinley
and Mrs. Robinson. The hymn,
"The Head that once was crown-,
ed with thorns," was sung. The
minutes were read and the roll
',plied, It was decided to hold
the meetings in the church for
the summer Months unless some-
one wanted it in their home.
The meeting followed the one
in the Missionary Monthly with
several members taking Scrip-
tures. The offering was received
and - the hymn, "Now May He
who from the dead," was sung.
The president closed the meet-
ing with the Benediction: Heb-
rew 13:.21
