A very enjoyable evening was
spent at Porter's Hill School on
Friday ,evening last when euchre,
"500" and dancing to Irwin's or-
chestra, were enjoyed, Prizes

Goderich Township
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Tufts and
Ruth Anne, London, spent the
weekend with the lady's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Middleton.
Friday after having spent the
past three months with Rev. and
Mrs. P. Renner.
Rev. LaVerne Morgan Left on
Monday for Toronto. Mrs. Mor-
gan and two children accomp-
anied him to Otterville to visit
her parents for a few days.
Mrs. R. B. Johnston returned
home on Monday after a short
holiday in the South. She lett
two weeks ago, travelling by
Trans -Canada Air Lines to New
York and from there by Eastern
Air Lines to Miami, Florida, She
also visited Ft. Lauderdale and
Key West in Florida, and spent
two days in New York City on
her return. She enjoyed the trip
by air.
River Goes Out Quietly
The Bayfield River went out
quietly over the weekend with-
out any flooding.
Home From Hospital
R. B. Johnston who has been
undergoing treatment in Clinton
Public Hospital, returned home
on Monday.
Undergoes Operation.
Mrs. L. McMillan, who has been
in ill -health for some weeks,
underwent a major operation in
Clinton Public Hospital on Tues-
day. Her friends join in wishing
her a speedy recovery.

Mrs, Mary MacKenzie's family
gathered at her home in Bayfield
for dinner at noon on Tuesday,
March 28. This happy gathering
was in honor of Mrs. MacKenzie's
84th birthday, Her many friends
join in congratulations and best
wishes,
Second Fire Truck
Bayfield Fire Brigade will soon
have two trucks in operation. The
company bought a 3,000 lb. Army
truck about a month ago and
members are fitting it up with a
500 -gallon tank and an auxiliary
pump on the back to use as a
supply to the pressure tank on
the first truck.
Transferred to Manitoba
Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Scotch -
mer and family were visiting
friends in and around the village
over the weekend. This was a
farewell visit as Harold is being
transferred to Manitoba and is
moving to Winnipeg April 1 where
he will continue his work as
Senior Livestock Fieldman with
the Federal Department of .Agri-
culture.
At a recent gathering of the
office staff in Toronto, Harold
was presented with an address of
appreciation and a handsome
cowhide travelling bag. His many
friends in this neighborhood. wish
him every success in his new field
of activity. Harold leaves on
Friday to motor to Winnipeg,
while his wife and children will
travel by train to their , new
home•

tives of Western Ontario in
London Saturday.

Recent Bride Feted
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
Secord MCBrien, Hullett Town-
ship, was the scene of a happy
gathering recently, when about
30 friends and neighbours gath-
ered to honour their daughter,
Maxine, now Mrs. Glen Gracey,
Toronto, whose marriage took
place a short time ago.
During the evening euchre was
played, prizes going to: Mrs. Lorne
Lawson, Mrs. Robert McMillan,
Mrs, Ross McGregor, Ellwood
Clarke, Robert McMillan and
Jack Caster.
As part of the evening's pro-
gramme, a beautiful floor lamp
was presented the bride and
groom, Ellwood Clarke reading
the address arid John Thompson
making the presentation. Mrs.
Gracey replied in a very fitting
manner after which all joined in
singing "For they are jolly good
fellows."
A delicious lunch served by
the ladies rounded out a very
happy evening.
Fireside Forum Meets
The Fireside Farm Forum of
Hullett Township met at the
home of Mr. and Mr,. Wesley
Hoggart for its regular Monday
night meeting with 21 present.
The topic of the evening was "Or-
ganlraticrr in a Community" and
was ably discussed.
It was decided to sponsor a
card party and dance in Londes-
boro Community Hall on Friday,
March 31, to which everyone is
welcome. Ladies are asked to
bring cards, tables and lunch.

Home From Hospital
Dr. Robert Grierson, who has
been a patient in Clinton Public
Hospital for some weeks, was re-
moved to his home here on Sun-
day much improved in health.

Institute Organized
The first meeting of the newly
organized Londesboro Women's
Institute will be • held in the
Community Hall on Thursday
afternoon, April 6, at 2.30 sharp,
and will be followed with a pot-
luck supper. MTss Margaret
Brophy of CKNX, Wingham, will
be present and a good programme
including artists from Clinton
will take part. The roll call is
to be answered with paying of
fees and also "What I would like
the Institute to do this year."
The president, Mrs. Robert
Fairservice is most anxious for
a large turnout of ladies who are
interested in Institute work, at
this meeting so each one may
have a Sunshine Sister, and also
to make plans for the coming
year,
the winners being: ladies', games
and lone hands, Mrs. Bert Hog-
gart; low, Frances Cook; men's,
high, Bill Jewitt; lone hands and
low, George Hoggart. A delicious
Iunch was served.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Mr. and Mrs, Robert
Riley.
