The WA of Varna United
Church are sponsoring a play "My
Favourite Gel Friend," which is
being presented' by Holmesville
YPU in the Township Hall, Varna,
on Tuesday evening, March 28.
Varna WMS Meets
The March meeting of Varna
WMS was held in the parsonage
on Thursday afternoon, March 16.
Mrs. Watson Webster opened the
meeting with the theme, "Ye are
not your own," after which hymn
387, "Hark the Voice of Jesus
Crying," was sung. Mrs. Web-
ster then led in prayer. Mrs.
Fowlie had charge of the worship
period end she read the Scripture
readings, after each reading, one
verse of hymn 356, "Take Time
to be Holy," was sung. Romans
12;1; Matthew 25:1-13; Psalm 66:
1-2; Acts 4:20-31; Luke 21:1-4;
Mach 12:30-31. 'All memebrs read
the Prayer of Dedication.
Mrs. George Reid then took
charge. All members joined in
a minute of silence in memory of.
a. WMS member, Violet Mc-
Clymont. Minutes of the last
meeting were read and adoption
moved by Mrs. W. R Stephen
son and seconded by Mrs. Fred
Reid, Sixteen members were
present. '
The roll call for April is to he
answered by an "Easter Thought."
A card of appreciation had been
received from the McClymosnt
family and Mrs. Johnston had re-
ceived thank you notes from Mrs.
David Stephenson and Lorne
Coleman for card's and parcels
received while sick. All present
were urged to start collecting
clothing for the bale. Thirteen
calls to shut-ins were reported.
BRUCEFIELD'
Miss Jpnet Watson, Aylmer,
was a weekend guest at her home,
Miss E. Bowey is spending a
few days in Exeter with her
sister, Mrs. J. Grainger who is
under, the doctor's care, •
Cam Henry, London, spent the
weekend at his home. Mr. and
Mrs. W. Henry have returned
from Hensall where they spent
the winter.
Mrs. S. Neil and Patsy, Glen-
coe, visited with her mother in
the village over the weekend and
with her father in Scott: Meteor-
1qI Hospital, Seaforth.
Brumfield WMS
The regular meeting of Brum-
field WMS was held in the Sun-
day school room on Tuesday,
March 14 with the president,
Mrs. A, Zapfe, in the chair. The
worship service, the theme be-
ing "Ye are not your own," Was
under the leadership of Mrs.
Walter Moffatt. The . program.
Chapter VI of "Growing with the
Years in. Sharing and Sacrifice,"
was well taken by Mrs. N. Walk-
er and Mrs. IL Dalrymple, who
were ably assisted by Mrs. R.
Allan and Miss E. Bowey. Mrs.
Walter Moffatt was named first
vice-president, and . Mrs. Carter
second vice-president. It was de-
cided to habe our Easter -Thank -
offering in April.

The last chapter ' of the Stltidy
Book, "Growing with the Years",
was taken by Mrs. W. Webster,
Mxs: Brute McClinchey, Mrs.
Harvey. Hawker and Mrs. ' S. Keys.
The meeting closed 'w1't'fi the

The Township of Tuckersmith requests the general
public not to park motor vehicles on Township .roads,
in order to facilitate snow plowing operations, and
notice is hereby given that the said Township will not
be responsible for any damage caused to vehicles parked
on the Township roads, by such operations.

TOWNSHIP OF STANLEY
' SEALED TENDERS will be received by the Town-
ship of Stanley for Crushing and Hauling approximately
Five Thousand (5,000) cubic yards of gravel to be
laid on Township roads by October 25, 1950.
Three -quarter -inch screen to be used and .tender to
slate a flat rate per cubic yard. Gravel will lid fur-
nisned by the Township from Fred Reid''s p•it.
A marked cheque for $200 is to accompany the
tender and all lenders are to be in the hands of the
Clerk by April 1, 1950. Lowest or any lender not
necessarily accepted.

MRS. CHARLES McALLISTER
(By `our Hensall correspondent)
Mrs. Charles McAllister died at
her home in Toronto, Tuesday,
March 21. The former Hannah
Sproat, she had been iii poor
health for the past five years.
Born in Tuckersmith, she re-
sided on, the Parr Line for many
years following her marriage be-
fore taking up residence in To -
ionto 34 years ago.
Surviving are one son, Edison,
Galt; and , one daughter, Mrs.
Frank Brooks, Toronto; one sis-
ter, Mrs. Robert Bell, Seaforth,
Mr. McAllister predeceased her by
several years.
A public funeral was held from
Bcrlthron's Funeral 'Home, Hen-
son., Thursday, March 23, 'at 2
p.m„ and interment was in Hen-
son Union 'Cemetery.
