The meeting opened with the singing of a hymn and prayer offered by Mrs.hller iwho v o also read the Scripture lesson. A number of articles were read end discussed. It was de- cided to hold the March meeting. at the home of Mrs. J. A. Addison with Mrs.' William Grigg in charge and the hostesses to be Mrs. Miller. and Mrs. Locithert. The meeting closed with the Singing of the hymn, "Abide with me," and dainty refreshments served by the hostesses, Mrs. Wesley ' Holland and Mrs. Reg. Smith. . o Mrs. S. Lebedovich Heads Officers' Wives The monthly meeting of the Officers' Wives Auxiliary of RCAF Stadion, was held at the Officers' Mess Tuesday evening. Mrs. L. H. Harris, the president, called the meeting to order. Fol- lowing her resignation, the new president, Mrs. S. Lebedovich, took the chair. The minutes were read by Mrs. R. A. B. Ellis, also letters of ap- preciation from recipients of overseas parcels and from mem- bers receiving flowers. A letter from Mrs. Chester. Hull thanked members of the Auxiliary for the rnixmaster she received before leaving Clinton. Mrs. S. R. Bur- bank read the treasurer's report. In an election which followed, Mrs. E. MacNair was elected vice-president. Following the business meet- , ing, Mrs. R. W. Anderson showed coloaed slides of New York, Washington, Florida and local station scenes. Refreshments con- cluded the evening, with Mrs. L. J. Drake, Mrs. D. A. Bell, Mrs. C. L. Harding, Mrs. W. H. Holmes, Mrs. T. B. Ianson and Mrs. H. J. P. McGill, in charge. deeds of Hospital Discuss"ed by Ladies Clinton Hospital Aid held its. regular monthly meeting in the Council Chamber Tuesday even- ing, with the president, Mrs. Frank Fingland, in the chair. Mrs. Leone Brown read the P minutes, while Miss ss L.km1 ' Wa = sha w in her treasurer's report showed a balance of $1,216.12 less outstanding bills. Plans were discussed for Hos- pital Day on May 12 end also a Tag Day on May 6. Mrs. C. M. Shearing will convene the latter. After discussion, it was voted to hold no money -raising activities during Old Home Week. Miss A. Sinclair was called to outline the most pressing needs of the hospital, whch are lockers and cupboards for patient's cloth- ing, and cupboards in the office for filing supplies. A motion was passed to give the consulting committee power to add to their. numbers and look ,into estimates regarding costs of the cupboards, PRESBYTERIAN GIRLS' CLUB The monthly meeting of the Girls' Club of Clinton Presby- terian Church will be held in the Sunday School room of the Church on Tuesday, Mardh 14, at 8 p.m. -o Wesley -Willis SS Sleighride Successful Wesley -Willis United Church Sunday School room was the scene of a "howlingly" successful party on Friday afternoon last when the annual sleigh ride, sup- per and movies was the order of the day. After school the children gath- ered at the church and were tak- en for a sleigh ride around the town. Sutter and son, Benson, spent" the weekend in. Toronto visiting the former's sister, Mrs. W. E. Floody, and Mo and Mrs. Martin Crasher. 1Vfr•, and Mrs. Russell Jervis, accompanied by the former's sis- ter, Mrs. Arthur Bishop, Niagara Falls, were in Port Hope on Thursday last attending the fun- eral of their aunt, the late Mrs, William Meadows. Hi Grisdale has joined the staff of Canada Packers Limited, Clin- ton, He comes here from head office, Toronto, He graduated from McGill University, Mont- real, in agricultural economics in 1949. Mrs. George VanHorne and her daughter, Mrs. John W. Nediger, returned on Sunday after spend- ing' five weeks with the farmer's sister-in-law, •Mrs. J. L. Sirnson, in California. During their stay they visited at Los Angeles, Huntington Park and Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. William Somers and granddaughter,. Peggy, Cache Bay, visited on Saturday last with Mr. and Mrs. 111..T. Corless. Their son, F/O Bruce Somers, was the bomb aimer on the plane in which Alvin Corless and crew lost their lives in Jufie 1944. Mr. Somers is a'retired CPR operator and has been stationed at various points which were very familiar to Mr. and Mrs. Corless when they lived in the north prior to 1920 when they came to reside. in Clinton. r WESLEY-WILLIS WAIS The WMS of Wesley -Willis United Church will meet at tlie home of Mrs. Frank Fingland to- night (Thursday, 'March 9) at eight o'clock. Wesley -Willis WA Holds Good Meetin The March meeting of the Woman's Association of Wesley Willis Church was held on the afternoon of March 2 in the church parlor. The attendance was very good, considering the stormy day. The president, Mrs, George Beattie was in the chair; Mrs. William Murch was pianist. The opening hymn was "Lord of all being, throned afar." The presi- dent offered prayer, followed h the Lord's prayer in unison. Th subject of the devotional perio was "Faith as trust." Mrs Bartiii'f read the Scripture lesso from the 6th chapter of St. Mat thew's gospel; Mrs. A. T. Coop gave 'Lesson Thoughts," an Virs. Will Vodden offered praye Reports were received from the various conveners of committees, and some letters of thanks read by the corresponding secretary, Mrs. cliff Cooper. Reports on sewing were given by the group leaders, Mrs. J. Addison, Mrs. E. Epps, Mrs .Will Murch and Mrs. +13. Adams, I Arrangements were completed for the St. Patrick's tea which takes place on Saturday afternoon, March 18. There was a splendid attendance of about 60 ladle's. The meeting opened with the singing of a ynand the re- sponsive reading of a psalm, fol- lowed by the Lord's Prayer re- peated in unison. Mrs. Martin very capably took the devotional period opening with a hymn and prayer. Various reports were read and routine business discussed. Mrs. D. McLean favoured with a lovely solo mid Mrs. Reg. Ball gave an Irish reading, both of which were mucks enjoyed. The meeting closed with the singing of a•hymn and the Miz- pah Benediction.
