Tragedy Postpones

Clinton Colts' home -and -home bound car on a hill and crashed
into the Weber Wear, which was
bound for Clinton, where the
New Hamburg Intermediate "B"
hockey team was—to play. Clare
Weber, reported to be the driver
of his car, is the manager of the
New lffamhurg team. His father
was killed,
series with New Hamburg was
cut short when the return match,
scheduled for 'Clinton Saturday
evening, had to be postponed on
account of a tragedy in which
manager and players were in-
volved on their way here by
automobile.
Two persons, a Stratford youth
,.and a New Hamburg man, died,
following a head-on collision
three-quarters of a mile east of
Shakespeare on No. 7 and 8 High-
• way at about 7.05 p.m. Saturday
that also sent four other persons
to hospital and bruised and
shocked seven other occupants
of the two cars.
A manslaughter ' charge was
laid a few hours after the accident
against 18 -year-old Robert C,
Marron, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.
Marron, Stitatford.
Dead are: JOHN MacLEAN
"MAC" ROSS, 18, only son of
Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Ross,. Strat-
ford; GIDEON WEBER, 74,re-
tired businessman of New Ham-
burg.
Still in Stratford General Hos-
pital where they were taken
fallowing the accident are Mrs.
Clare Weber, New Hamburg,
suffering from a fractured skull,
whose condition was described
this morning as good; her 12 -
year -old son Roger, who sustain-
ed a broken right leg; and 17 -
year -old Kay Yates, daughter of
Mr. and
Mrs.
F. Yates, 170 Hib-
ernia st., who sustained a fract-
ured knee cap.
Miss Ruth Luckhart, New Ham -
car, wasg, a pta.kenger tornthe hospitaleber
in
Kitchener, where she was treated
for a broken wrist and later re-
leased.
According to the police report,
the accident occurred as the Mar-
ron car, heading for an -inter-
club badminton match in Guelph,
attempted to pass another 'east -

Clintoar RCAF took an, early
lead in their OHA Intermediate
match with' Centralia 'RCAF in
Clinton , Lions Arena Tuesday"
evening, but they wilted badly
under fire in the second and
third stanzas and lost to the in-
vaders 9-6.
This match ended the home -
and -home series between the taro
service teams, Clinton having
won at Exeter 9-8 a week ago.
The ice was fast, but the crowd
was only fair, far below the
packed house which greeted the
two RCAF teams a year ago.

sels on Monday night in a sched-
uled game in the WOAA Inter-
mediate "B" hockey grouping.
The combination of Lee and
Shaddick proved a powerhouse to
the B -A's, accounting for three

Ex-Holmesville Couple
Mark 44th Anniversary
Mr, and. Mrs.' Lewis Tebbutt,
well-known and highly -respected
citizens of Seaforth, marked the
44th armiversary of their wedding
on Tuesday; February 7,, at their -
home.
The celebration was a quiet,
affair owing to the continued i'lk
ness of Mrs. Tebbutt.'
Mr. and Mrs; Tebbutt were
married at the Martin home on
concession 2, Tuckersmith, Feb,
7, 1906 by Rev. F. H. Larkin and
lived north of Holmes-vrl, le fir
13 years. They moved then to
Tuckersmith where they spent 27
years and have lived in Seaforth
four years. Mrs. Tebbutt is the.
