Lawrence P. Plumsteel
To Speak to Plowmen
Lawrence P. Plum -steel, prin-

School, end son of H. P. Plum -
steel, Clinton, is to be one of
the special speakers at the an-
nival convention of the Ontario
Plowmen's Association, to be held
at the King Edward Hotel, Toron-
to, February 6 and 7.
Under Mr. Plumsteel's leader-
ship, Seaforth High School pion-
eered in Ontario in 1949, in the
holding of an inter -school plow-
ing match. Seaforth High School
was also one of the first in the
Province to sponsor a boys' trac-
tor club as one of its extra-
curricular activities.
The inter -school plowing match,
organized by the Seaforth prin-
cipal and by the head of the
school's agriculture department,
W. A. Morrison, developed from'
challenges issued by the tractor
club's plowing team to plowboys
at Clinton Collegiate and Palm-
erston High School.
Mr, Plumsteel has been invited
to speak at the OPA convention
on the possibilities for work
among students in rural high
schools in the study of good plow-
ing methods and good use of farm
machinery:
Speckled Trout Limit
Reduced to 15 per Day
First reduction in the speckled
trout limit in many years, end an
increase of $1 in the cost of non-'
resident fishing licences, are
announced by the Ontario De-
partment of Lands and Forests.
During the 1950 season, the
speckled trout catch must • be
limited to 15 per day except in
Norfolk County, where it will be
ten per day. Minimum length
permitted remainsat seven inches.
Lands and Forest Minister, Har-
old R. Scott, said.
Previous speckled catch limit
was 20 fish or ten lbs., whichever
was first reached. The poundage
limit has now been eliminated.
Recently, representatives of
thousands of Ontario sportsmen
urged reduction in the total take
and following recommendations
made to the fish and game corn -4
mittee of the Legislature, the
committee agreed it was a wise
and necessary move to conserve
the aristocrat of fresh water.

URGES DELAY IN
SCHOOL CHANGES
(Continued from Page One)
Lion of Agriculture, view with
concern the proposed changes as
outlined in your recent address:
"We hope the grouping of
grades will continue the fine
features of the rural schools. but
in the proposed changes in the
intermediate division, Grade
seven to ten, we fear that some
move may be made to put all
these pupils in one school;
"In the County of Huron this
will not work, and we petition
you to delay any action in the
County of Huron in this regard
until such time as the rural rate-
payers have a chance to express
their views."
