Municipal elections took place

Sweitzer polled 5363 votes as
against 373 for Mr, Cochrane.
Voters cast 456 ballots in favor
of H. L. Snyder, who defeated
R, E. Pooley bya margin of 35
votes in the contest for deputy -
reeve. Mr. Pooley's total vote
was 421.
Elected to three sea's on coup

Hay Township
V. L. Becker was accorded
699 votes to lead the polls do an
election for four councillors in
Hay Township. Others elected
were: August Roche (559); Irvin
J. Willard (452); and L. H. Raider
(368). Oscar Klopp received only
366 votes and was eliminated.
Usborne Township
Wellington Brook, was elected
Reeve of Usborne Township by a
seven -vote margin over James
Simpson, Voters cast 351 ballots
for Mr. Brock against 344 for
Simpson. The vote was regard-
ed as average. The two contest-
ants were councillors in 1949.
The winner succeeds ex -Warden
Hugh Berry.
Huron Old Boys Plan
Annual Meeting Jan. 9
Huron Old Boys in Toronto are
holding their annual meeting on
Monday, January 9, at 8.15 p.m.
at West Toronto YMCA, College
and Dovercourt Sts., Toronto. All
members a n d former Huron
residents are urged to attend the
election of the 1950 committee.
A feature of the evening will
be the showing of the colour -
sound film, "The Books Drive
On," sponsored by the Huron
County Library Association. Hur-

Hears 16 Cases
No less than ' 108 appeals
against the assessment for 1950
were filed in connection with'the
Township of Goderich.
Only 10 of these were heard
and adjustments made at the ad-
journed Court of Revision held
in the Town Council Chamber,
PM. The Court then ad-
journed until tomorrow, Friday,
at 10 am,, due to the fact that
recount proceedings are being
held at Holniessdlle today.
Reeve James R. Stirling pre-
sided at yesterday's Court of_ Re-
vision, the' Court ' consisting of
the members of the Township
Council. During the session, there
were many spectators in attend-
