ANNIVERSARY
'Mr. and Mrs. John S. Snider,
Albert St., , Clinton, celebrated
their sapphire (45th) wedding
anniversary on Thursday, De-
cember 29. in the year 1904 they
were married by the late Rev.
Edward . Sewer in Brucefield.
The event was marked by an
"At Home" during the afternoon
and evening and was attended by
most of their numerous friends
from Clinton, Brucefield and
surrounding district.
All members of the family
were present, they were: Mr. and
' Mrs. Melvin Snider, Meaford;
Mrs. Murray Hetherington,
Brampton (formerly . of Gode-
rich); Miss Irene Snider, London;
Miss Kathleen Snider, Strathlorne,
N S ; and granddaughter Margaret
Jean Hetherington, Brampton
Tea was poured by Mrs. William
Douglas in the afternoon and: in
the evening by Mrs. George
Roberton.
Beautiful gifts, flowers and
dards were received from their
many friends and relatives, in-
cluding,. a lovely silver comport
from the WA and WMS of
Clinton Presbyterian Church.
Telegraph congratulatory mes-
sages' were received from as far
afield, as California, Florida and
Detroit.

St. W., during. the past week.
Stewart MacDonald arrived at
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ronald MacDonald, on Wed-
nesday last, and is hoping to re-
main for some time.
Mrs. E. E. Brown, Petrolie, is
visiting her sister, Mrs. William
Sffaddock, coming to be present
at her father's birthday on Sun-
day.

Crediton, spent the New Year's

Club Holds Party
"Week of Prayer"
Special Services
Week of. Prayer services are
scheduled for Clinton next week,
and it is the hope of hte ministers
of the town that a goodly ,num-
ber will be .present.
There will be two services on
Monday and Wednesday even-
ings 'respectively. Each service
will commence at eight o'clock.
The service on Monday evening
will be held in Wesley -Willis
United Church with Rev. R. M,
P. Bulteel of St. Paul's Anglican
Church as speaker. Rev. A. For-
syth of Clinton Baptist Church
will be the speaker at the Wed -
A good crowd attended the
Christmas Meeting, of Clinton
Women's Institute. The Presid-
ent, Mrs. C. Sturdy, occupied the
chair, and the meeting opened in
the usual way by singing the Ode
and repeating the Lord's Prayer
in unison.
Mrs. E. Adams, the secretary,
read the minutes of the last meet-
ing and the correspondence. It
was decided -to send the sum of
ten dollars to the Sick Children's
Hospital. The finance committee
are to -decide about ' holding a
card party in the month of Jan-
uary, also to see about presenting
a play.
Mrs. George Ginn gave a very
interesting account of the Area
Convention which was held in
London. Two very pleasing piano
numbers were rendered by Mrs.
E. Radford.
Mrs. Rev. Bulteel. gave a
splendid Christmas message
which was much enjoyed by all
present. Several Christmas carols
were then sung with. Mrs. A.
Holmes the pianist at the piano.
Mrs, Bert boyes arrived at this
time with fifteen girls and boys
from the Public School and en-
tertained the group by singing
"Christmas Hymn". Jane Batkin
played a piano number, "Bourree"
A vote of thanks to all who
helped so splendidly with the
program was tendered by Mrs.
Trewartha and. Miss L. Brigham.
God Save the King was sung and
tasty refreshments served by Mrs.
Mel. Crich and her helpers.

with them in Toronto.

Mr. and Mrs. Murray Quaife
spent the New Year's weekend
with the former's mother, Mrs.
Quaife, Toronto.

homes after spending the holiday

The Friendship Club of St.
Paul's Anglican Church held its
Christmas party at the Rectory.
The evening was spent in games
and social chat. Mrs: Bulteel
served a delicious lunch after
which she handed out the gifts
to the girls.
The singing of carols brought
the evening to a close.
The first meeting of the New
Year will be held in St. Paul's
Parish Hall on Wednesday, Jan-
uary 11, in the form of a pot-
luck supper at 6.30 p.m. All mem-
bers are urged to be present.
WESLEY-WILLIS GIRLS' CLUB

Year on Tuesday, January 10,
at 6:30 p.m. in the church hall,

Feted on Anniversary
A very delightful family party
was held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. William Inkley, Prin-
cess St. E., on Saturday even-
ing, December 24, when they
entertained in honour of the
Tatter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Elliott, 1Vlillford, Mich„ who
that day were celebrating their
35th wedding anniversary.
A delicious fowl dinner was
served, the table peing centred
with a three-storey cake which
had been beautifully decorated
by the hostess. Later, cards were
enjoyed, and before the evening
came to a close the honoured
couple's youngest daughter, Miss
Wanda Elliott, made a very lov-
ely address to her mother and
father, and very useful gifts
were presented to the bride and
groom of 35 years.
For the occasion Mrs. Elliott
chose a blue petit -point crepe
dress and was given an orchid
corsage by her family. Imine -Mate
members of the family were
present, as well as the bride's
mother, Mrs. M. E. Jacob, her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. E. J. Jacob, and a few
personal friends,

MRS. J. M. MONTGOMERY
Funeral service for the late
Mrs. J. M. Montgomery was held.
at the Beattie and McRoberts
Funeral Home, Rattenbury St. E.,
on Tuesday afternoon, December
27, 1949. Rev. Hugh C. Wilson
officiated, and interment follow-
ed in Clinton Cemetery. Pall-
bearers were G. W. Matt, Chester
Farquhar; D. A. Kay, Bernard
Nott, Shepherd Dale and Charles
Hoggart.
Mrs, Montgomery, the former
Fannie -Freeman, was born in
Hullett Township, on July 1,
1870, a daughter of the late Henry
and Margaret Eleanor Freeman.
Following her marriage she and
Mr. Montgomery farmed in her
native township, moving to Clinton
23 years ago where they have since
resided. Mrs. Montgomery was a
member of Wesley -Willis United.
Church and as long,.as her health
permitted was regular in her
church attendance.
Mrs. Montgomery's death oc-
cu rr d at her home Isaac St.. of
Friday December 23, following
a lengthy illness.
' Surviving as well as her hus-
band, James Malcolm Montgom
say, are three sisters, Mrs. Han-
nah Glazier, Hullett Township;
Mrs. Maggie Riley, Constance; arid
Mrs. Gertrude Glazier, Clinton;
and two brothers, Robert Free-
man, Clinton, and John Freeman,
Hullett Township.
