Should a doctor tell a person
frankly when he is sure she has a
cancer? This vexing question was
asked of some 3,000 women during
a recent cancer survey conducted
by Gallup Poll representatives for
the Canadian Cancer Society. 58
percent of the women questioned
answered "Yes". Twenty-three
percent believed that the doctor
should not tell the patient -and 19
percent had no opinion. This is
an indication of the "realistic'
attitude of ' Canadian women to-
wards a disease that as recently
as three decades ago was so sur-
rounded by taboos and supersti-
tion that it was not even discus-
sed.'

Ladies' Night By
Clinton Lions Club
Mass psychoanalysis aimed to
restore • the appetite for hearty
laughter, is one of eight feature
acts scheduled by the Clinton
Lions Club for a Ladies' Night to-
morrow December 16, at the
Hotel Clinton. Another laugh act
in this second edition of the laugh
fiesta is the ABC's of Matri-
mony", the simple and surprising
rules of life discovered by a pro-
fessor of Koo Koo College.
Possibly the funniest event, ac-
cording to program chairman Lion
Lorne .Brown, Is Hats by Holly-
wood, in which the puzzled man,
for once will take a keen interest,
and the ladies, of course, will
scream. Five other acts now in
the laugh -hopper will be spaced
to increase the fun -making pres-
sure as the appetite for laughter
increases. "These are top secret,"
says chairman Lorne, "but the re-
putation of the Clinton Lions Club
for super enjoyment will certainly
suffer no setback tomorrow night.'
