the weekend in Chatham, and at-
tended the organizational meeting
of the Executive Alumni Associa-
tion of London Conference YPU
held in Victoria ' Ave. United
Church. Mr. Sutter was honour-
ed by the group by being chosen
its first president.

Golden Wedding
Celebrated By
Bluevale Couple
A well known Bluevale oouple,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Coultes
celebrated the 50th anniversary
of their marriage on Tuesday,
Novenvber 15, when they, were At
Home to their "many' friends ' of
Bluevale, Listowel, Clinton and
district.
Mr. and Mrs, Coultes are now
living in the house in which they
were married 50 years ago by the
Rev.' George Baker of the Meth-
odist Church.. But for 34 years
they farmed in Wallace' Township
near Listowel retiring to Bluevale
only last year-. ',Mr. Coultes was
born in,Bluevale in 1880, white
Mrs. Coultes who is the- former
Laura Snell was born in Stanley/
Township in 1883.
Following their marriage in
1905 they resided in Calgary for
12 years, where their only daugh-
ter (Grace) Mrs. .George German
was born. Mr. Coultes •has dee.
brother Dr. John F. Coultes, Phil-
adelphia and one sister Miss Ma-
bel Coultes, Toronto, while Mrs.
Coultes's only brother Lloyd Snell
resides in Winnipeg. They have
one grandson, Bili German, Clin-
ton.
A large number of friends call-
ed on Tuesday to offer congrat-
ulations and best wishes to the
celebrants, Mrs. Minnie Weber
and Mrs, S. J. Poag; Listowel,
presided at the prettily decorated
tea table, assisted by Mr's, Geog-
hegan, Listowel; Mrs. Paisley and
Mrs. William Counter, Clinton,
Mrs. Reg. Belton, Bluevale, Mrs,
W. A. Oakes, Clinton invited
guests to the dining room and Mrs.
Henry- Horn, Listowel, answered
the door. Mrs. Fullerton, Listo-
wel, was in charge of the guest
book.

Met On Tuesday -
The Women's Missionary Soc-
iety of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
church met on Tuesday afternoon
at the hone of Mrs. Ed Farqu-
har. Mrs. R. W. McKenzie pre-
sided, and after a call to worship
and a hymn, she called on Mrs.
Norman Ball and Mrs. Farquhar
for the devotional period.
Mrs. Robert Scott, secretary
and Mrs. William Shaddock act-
ing treasurer (in the absence of
Mrs. Makins through illness) gave
their reports. The thankoffering
amount was increasing.
From the study book "Face to
Face with India", Mrs. Lane com-
bined with the chapters on "The
Weather" and Crime and Justice,"
She also reported on the recent
Presbyterial Conference held in
Goderich on "The Mission of the
Church" were Miss Isabel McCon-
nell, reutrned missionary from In-
dia, Miss Athalie Read from Brit-
ish Columbia and Miss Ann Mac-
Eachern, regional secretary con-
ducted interesting and• helpful
sessions.
Plans were made for the Christ-
mas meeting to be held at the
home of Mrs. John Snider, The
president closed the meeting with
prayer. A social hour was en-
joyed. Mrs. G. D. Roberton as-
sisted the hostess.

Sustain Requests
Rev. Peter Renner, Bayfield, was
chairman for a meeting of 50
ministers and laymen meeting in
James Street United Church on
Tuesday.
' The pastoral relations com-
mittee, convened by the Rev. C.
D. Daniel, Hensall, .reported that
the Rev. James A. Burden had
been transferred from Granville
to Huron Presbytery, and the Rev.
Bruce Hall had been appointed
stated'supply for Northside Chur-
ch, Seaford' during January and
February, -•
Presbytery sustained a request
for retirement from the Rev. C. C.
Washington, Auburn, with June,
1956 as the effective date. A. call
for the Rev. John Stinson, Sea -
forth, to Wesley Church, London,
also was sustained at the meeting.
Rev. A. G. Eagle, Clinton, re-
ported for the .pension committee'
that Mr. Washington had been re-
commended for retirement after
43 years of service.
On motion of the evangelism and
social service committee a recom-
mendation will be sent to the Can-
adian Broadcasting company and
Premier Leslie Frost requesting
the CBC continue to not accept
liquor advertising.

earnings of $12,266 a year.

The Mothers' Study Group of
Wesley -Willis United Church met
on Tuesday at the home of Mrs.
Alvin Wise with 21 present., After
a hymn, prayer by Mrs. Jervis
was followed by the Lords Pray-
er in unison. Mrs. Bagnall gave
a report on the " layette and a
treasurer's report. Mrs. B. Hanley
suggested the purchase of pins,
soap, etc„ for the bale. Mrs. Ken
Breakey kindly sent a number of
flannelette patches for crib quilts.
The theme of the meeting, con-
ducted by Mrs. William Murch
was "Take Tiine for G6d", and
was opened by a poem by that
title. The Scripture was read by
Mrs. Carter. A series of articles
entitled "To my daughter on her
way to school", "Who threw that
mud?", "Family Worship", and
"Mothers Mustn't Cry" were read
by Mrs. Murch and discussed.
A social half hour started with
the playing of two contests and
ending with delicious lunch serv-
ed by Mrs. Kingswell, Mrs. Bag-
nall, Mrs. G. Wise and Mrs. A.
Wise. '
The December',. meeting is to
take the form of a .party to be
held at the church on Thursday,
December 15 (evening) with Mrs.
G. Wise and Mrs, ' Bagnall in
charge and Mrs. B. Hanley and
Mrs. William Murth as hostesses.

The Clintonian Club held their.
annual meeting at the home of
Mrs. G. ''Glazier, on Wednesday,
November 9, with 24 members
present, and Mrs. H. Managhan.
presiding. Mrs. •C,, Cooper (in the
absence of Mrs. T. beeves, -secret-
ary) gave the annual report, list-
ing cards, fruit and flowers sent
to sick members through the year
Stockings and underwear sent to
children in the, Preventorium at
London; gave $10 to the Chamber
of Commerce to help buy resuscit-
ator; treats to the county home;
shirts and Jeans for a needy fam-
ily in town.
Mrs. Colcough was chair lady
for the election of 8 officers which
resulted as follows: past president,
Mra. H. Managhan; president,, Mrs
E Epps; first vice-president, Mrs.
W. Colclough; second vice-presi-
dent, Mrs. R. MacDonald; secret-
ary, Mrs. E. Welsh; treasurer, Mrs
T. O'Connell; press secretary,_ Mrs.
Moody; visiting committee, Mrs.

ar's 80th birthday on Monday a
few of the neighbours had a birth-
day luncheon for trim.• The table..
was centred with' a prettily decor-
ated lighted birthday cake; ",sur-
rounded by small vases of baby
mums.
During the course of the after-
noon a table lamp was presented
to the guest of honour for which
both Mr, and Mrs. Farquhar ex-
pressed their appreciation. Lunch
was served by Mrs. R. Connell,
Mrs. G. Grigg, Mrs. J, Ostrom and
Mrs. L. Rathbun,
