Fred Thompson, husband of the
former Ann Elizabeth Flynn, Clin-
ton, has been appointed a deputy
magistrate, and will assume office
soon in a court in the metropo]i-
tan area. near Toronto, specializ-
ing on traffic offenses.
Mrs. Flynn is the daughter of
Mrs. Flynn and the late Dominic
Flynn, Mullett Township.
For the past . six years Mr.
Thompson has been a member of
the Globe and Mail's news staff,
• INSURANCE and the announcement of his ap-
pointment, made: by Attorney -Gen-
eral Roberts, followed a recom-
mendation: by a committee of bar-
risters who had known the 're-
porter during his coverage of the
courts' for that newspaper.

In 1932; Mr. Thompson mar-
ried Ann Elizabeth: Flynn of Clin-
ton, and they have three children.
Hensall Council
Pays For Band
Remembrance Day
Hensall village council meeting
on Monday evening in the council
chamber, agreed to defray the
cost of the Bannockburn Pipe
Band playing at the Remembrance
Day service, so that the Legion
could avoid taking up a collection
at the .service.
Council will open up a special
bank account in the name of the
village for the $2,372 raised by
sale of tickets on the trailer don-
ated by General Coach.

Remembrance Day services
were observed in Hensall on Fri-
day with a parade' which ineluded
members of Legion Branch 468,
Legion Ladies' 'Auxiliary, ` Girl
Guide Association, Scouts and,
Cubs, headed by the Bannockburn
Pipe 1 Band from Varna.
The parade marched from the
school to the cenotaph for a brief
service where • wr ea t: h s were
placed' by Mrs. Taylor; Sr., repre-
senting the Province of Ontario;

Legion; Legion Ladies Au 'Bary
