The Women's Missionary Society
of Knox Presbyterian Church was
held on Thursday in the church
with the ladies of Blyth and Clin-
ton
linton societies as guests. The presi-
dent, -Mrs. W. Good presided with
Mrs. Don Haines at the organ.
Mrs, ,William Merritt, Blyth,
read the cripture, Tames 4:14-17
and gave remarks on same. Pray-
er was offered by Miss Lena Liv-

CAPTAIN DIRECTS WARSHIP BY TELEVISION, RADAR
Civilian examination of ` Canada's newest
destroyer -cruiser, the •St.- Laurent, revealed' her
to be themost,advanced ship of.her kind known.
The captain, sitting before` a radar and television
screen, can direct the ship without ever, going
to the bridge. Armament equipment include
torpedoes which set their own course on target.
First ,of 14 to be built for the RCN, she will be
commissioned on Oct. 29 and turned over to
Capt, Robert: W. Timbrell, Vancouver,
guest speaker and' gave ah +inspir-
ing talk on "What shall I render
unto the Lord?" The speaker' said
