Married Years; Family Gathering Hell

Mrs, Biggart's niece, Miss Joyce

gart and Mrs. Jim Cooper. In the
evening Mrs. Abe Orpen assisted
them. Receiving guests -at the
door was Mrs. Porter, and Bruce
Biggart .was in charge of the
guest book.
Robert Biggart displayed the
many lovely gifts, which included
a glass -topped coffee table from
the neighbours, and a metal de-
corative tray from the IOOF of
which. Mr. Biggart is a member.
Among the many flowers received
was a gift of 50 'mums to com-
memorate the occasion.
In addition to those of her fam-
ily already mentioned, Mrs. Big-
gait has two other brothers,
Charles, in Seaforth and Henry on
the homestead. Mr. Biggart bas
two sisters living, _ Mrs, Kraft,
Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Mrs. Sam
(Laura) Kennedy, Niagara falls
Ont., and one brother George, also
of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

behind the Commercial Hotel,
where he and his wife still live,

Goderich. Mrs, Williams was her
sister's bridesmaid fifty years ago.
The groomsman, Robert Cochrane
now lives in British Columbia, and
- Frank Giew, who gave the bride
away, lives here in. Clinton,

Plans For
Halloween Party
The members of St. Paul's
Friendship Club met in the Parisi
Hall on October 5, with the first
vice-president, Margaret Counter
presiding.
Murphy Bros. expressed regret
over the forced cancellation of
the home freezer display and gave
the club a: cheque to cover ex-
penses. The girls decided to have
^ Hallowe'en party on November
2. Home material for aprons was
handed out so that the girls could'
start sewing for the pre -Christ-
mas tea, to be held on November
23. Further preparations are to
be made at the next meeting on
October 19.

attending the Joslin-Taylor wed-
ding which took place in Dundas

OES Now Is .
Four Years Old
The fourth birthday of Clinton
Chapter No. 266, Order of the
Eastern Star, was celebrated on
September 29 in the Parish Hall,
The hall was beautifully decorat-
ed with a profusion of flowers,
the head table being in the Wor-
thy Matron's colours of red, white
and blue, and centred with a
three -tiered birthday cake.
After a toast to the Queen and
the blessing by Dave Kennedy,
approximately 160 sat down to a
sumptuous turkey banquet cater-
ed to by Mr. and Mrs. C, Van -
Demme of the Commercial Hotel
Greetings to the honored guests,
Dave Kennedy, Worthy Grand
Patron of the Grand Chapter of
Ontario; Mrs. Clara Austin, Dist-
rict Deputy Grand Matron; mem-
bers from other subordinate chap-
ters, friends and visitors were ex-
tended by the Worthy Matron,
Mrs. Helen Wells, and Worthy
Patron, Bill Clayton.
While the birthday cake was
being cut, . musical numbers by
Mrs. Shirley Vincent and Mrs.
Florence Symons were very much
enjoyed. Mrs. Sadie Clayton pro-
posed a toast to Grand Chapter;
Mrs. Helen Pearson to District
No. 5 and Mrs. Harriet Fines to
the visitors and these were re-
sponded to by Dave Kennedy,
Mrs, Clara, Austin and Mrs. AIlan
Fraser, respectively.
After the banquet the remaind-
er of the evening was spent in
playing progressive euchre, prizes
going to Mrs. Louise Swanson,
Wingham, for high ladies' hand;
Mrs, Marjorie Hunter, St. Marys,
for low ladies' hand; William
Bushell, Goderich, for high men's
hand; Willard Aiken, Clinton, for
low metes hand and Mrs. Arthur
Aiken fbr lone hands.
Met October 6
The regular monthly meeting of
Clinton Chapter No.- 266, Order
of the Eastern Star, was held on
October 6 with a goodly number
of members present, as well as
visitors. Election of officersfor
the ensuing year took place.
The Chapter's delegate, Mrs,
Helen Pearson, gave her concise
report of Grand' Chapter sessions
held at the Royal York, Toronto,
September 20-23. Two mystery
draws were made and were won
by Mrs. Florence Rathbun and
Mrs. Ruby Haddy.
Mrs. Eula Roy and her commit-
tee served lunch at the close of
the meeting.

occasion of Wedding Anniversary
celebrations for both couples.

the church parlour last Thursday
afternoon, Mrs. Shepherd was at

Miss Win O'Neil read the Scrip-
ture lesson; Mrs. G Beattie gave
the lesson thoughts and Mrs. H.
Charlesworth Sed in prayer.
Announcement was made of the
semi-annual meeting of the WA
Presbytery to be in Goderieh
on Wednesday, October 26. The
WA will cater for a banquet for
the Men's Club of the Church in
the near future.
Mrs F. Fingland gave a talk on
the need of organizing a society
for the prevention of cruelty to
animals. She cited several cases
of cruelty. It was decided that a
resolution should be sent to Pres-
bytery to this effect.
Plans were made for the Coun-
try Fair which will be held later
this month. Mrs. A. Rathweil read
a poem, "Your Neighbours". Mrs.
C. Nelson gave a report on the
meeting held to plan for commun-
ity night school at CDCI this
winter. .,.-
Lunch was served by Mrs. Les-
lie Ball's group.
