This was' the first game of the best two -of -three OBA Junior "C" semi-final series. Chippewa, a; junior team' that has played- in a juvenile group in the' Niagara District, will meet the winner of the Dresden -Clinton series for the championship. In' Dresden Suuda.y Clinton goes to Dresden this Sunday afternoon (Sept. 4) for the second game at 2.30 o'block. Anyone planning on going, who could take players, are asked to contact A. L. If Clinton should' 'win in Dresden, the third game will be played in Clinton Com- munity Park en Saturday, Sep- tember 10 at 3 p.m. 29 Strikeouts Bill MacDonald struck out 14 batters, while, Wright for Dresden fanned 15 Clinton men in the tight pitcher's battle. Southpaw Wright is the same pitcher who defeated Clinton two years ago in juvenile playdowns. Seven of the. 1953 juvenile Ontario champions are this year playing junior for Dresden. Dresden scored their first run in the second inning without get- ting a hit. An error, two bases on balls and a hit batsman, ac- counted for the run and left the bases loaded. Bob Garon drew a walk in. Clinton's half' but was thrown out trying to steal second. The third was Dresden's big in- ning, scoring three runs on two hits and a wild pitch. Until -the fifth, Clinton had only three men up in each inning. In that inning Gerry Tebbutt knock- ed his long home run over the racetrack in left -centre field. Tom Colquhoun got on, on a passed ball and Murray Colquhoun sing- led but were left on base when Wright fanned Elliott and Hohn- es. olmes, In the last four innings Clin- ton had only one man on base, that being Rick Elliott's single in the eighth. Yvonne McPher- son, Wingham, with three wins plus 18, captured first prize. Seaforth Wins Peewee Finals Bob Reith, a big boy for "his; age, pitched the Seaforth Peewee baseball team to victory in the third game of the WOAA Peewee finals at Seaforth last '.Friday night. Clinton ... 001 101-3 3 Seaforth ., 000 301-4 4 0 Seaforth Peewees :Win Second Game By 5 to 4 Score In the second game of -the WOAA Peewee championship series between Seaforth and Clin- ton Kinsmen Peewees, Seaforth edged Clinton 5-4 in a pitchers' battle. Reith, the Seaforth hurler, allowed only three hits and Cum- mings, the Clinton 'twirler, was nicked far four hits. Clinton led off in the first in - rang and secured one run. Mc- Lennan walked and stole second; Livermore hit a single and Mc- Lennan scored. Reith struck out artliff to end the rally. In Sea- forth's half of the first inning, Pethick, the first batter up was hit by a wild pitch, tOhen• stole second. Ast singled and Pethick scored, Campbell singled and with the help of some bad base throw- ing Ast scored, making the score 2-1 for Seaforth. Clinton added two more runs in their half of the second inning. Smith, the first man, walked. Engelstad made first on a field- er's choice and Smith advanced to third. Engelstad stole second and both runners scored on the over- throw at second. Seaforth failed to score in their half. Livermore started things off in the third, making first en an er- ror. Bartliff grounded to short, the shortstop failed to make a play and Livermore advanced to third. Engelstad got on when the second sacker tried to nip Liver- more at the plate, who scored easily, making the score 4-2 in favor of Clinton. Seaforth in their half of the third loaded the bases with none out and with help of two nice putouts at the plate, and a strikeout by Cummings, the inning ended without a run being scored for Seaforth. In the fourth inning, Pickett the first man up, bunted and was safe; Cummings then singled, ad- vancing Pickett to third. Reith retired the next three hatters to end Clinton's half of the inning. In Seaforth's half of the fourth, Cummings walked the first two men to face him and Pethick reached first on an error, S. Brown scoring. Cummings retired the next two men only to have Reith single, scoring both Pethick and G. Brown, making the score 5-4 in favor of Seaforth. In the first of the fifth, Reith forced Liveryllore to ground out and struckout Bartliff and Smith to end the inning. A past president of the Ontario Beef Producers' Association, Bert Arnica, Barrie, will be on hand to explain a new plan whereby a deduction will be made on the sale of beef cattle. A fund will be set up from this money to aid in promotional purposes for the as- sociation. At a special meeting in Clinton the executive decided to sponsor Federation of Agriculture infor- mation booths at each of the fall fairs in the county this fall. The executive ordered\ Gordon Greig, Bluevale, secretary -field - man, to make the final payment of $674.60 on the. $3,000 affiliation fee to the Ontario Federation.
