Varied Vandalism) But At Least One Good Deed (By our-'fayficid correspondent) There has been considerable vandalism of one kind or another around the village this aumnjer— some of it petty, some more ser- ious. Ane incident ' on Wednesday evening of last .week was the cutting adrift of several small pleasure boats in the river. R. Jenkins and Leslie Elliott discov- - ered it when they went down to go out in the former's boat: Later, they reported it to the village constable, George Little. Next day, two girls saw a tall lad and a short chubby boy cut the sails off the raft which the Fellows children had moored on the river below the highway. So far; the boys have not been ident- ified. On the previous Sunday, Paul Mel/faster reported the disappear- anoe of his canoe, tied up on the river below the family cottage. After a search, Constable Little discovered it about 50 yards frorp the cottage, drawn up behind some trees Fish line and a dip net had been left in it, apparently for future use. And then on the "other side of the ledger" comes a story whinh stands out in happy contrast to these insane actions.' On Tuesday morning, about half -past nine o'clock, two young boys were speeding home on, their. bicycles 111 the teeming rain.: They spied a window blown in on the Pound- er cottage on Howard Street. Despite the pouring ram, the boys stopped arid closed . the window. Such deeds as these speak for themselves' of the good character ,f the boys. +-tiv-ram+-+-M-r++-*o+•1 U.•-s,s•+ VARNA Services .in the United Church will be withdrawn on Sunday, September 4 owing to anniversary services in Goshen United Church.
