RIDDICK and SONS Feeds and Grains CLINTON PHONE 114 s Butter Plans Most Important Part In Your Pay Cheque The part played by butter, nat- ure's nutritious food, in the nat- ional economy, was explained again the other day by officials of the Ontario Cream Producers' Mark- eting Board, as they pointed out to consumers the importance, of their product to the nation's well- being. Butter has its start on the farm, where dairy cows turn pasture and other feed into milk and cream. From there it goes to the cream- ery in town, in return for a cheque that goes to the farmer, they explained. The dairy operator, in turn, sells the butter and pays his work- ers, who use their salaries to buy their needs. This, in brief, pro- vides an income. to storekeepers of various types, service station. operators, and others: The farmer, •meanwhile, has also found a use for his cream cheque, and littleif any, of it is likely to remain in his pocket for very long. With the money he got for his cream he buys machinery, tires;, gasoline, clothing, foodstuffs, and puts a bit aside for the day when he might need , a new milking machine or tractor. In the process he has helped the factory operator pay his work- ers to produce tractors, tires, clothing, gasoline, automobiles and foodstuffs. Therefore, marketing board of- ficials pointed out, if butter sales drop, `the entire economy is hit— everyone will feel the pinch. But, they added, they would feel it in other' ways too, for lack of dairy products such as butter in the diet can result in harmful deficiencies which will hit health as well as the purse. 0 Until just over a hundred years ago banishment from the country for life was a punishment for criti- cism of the government in Upper Canada. , HERE'S WHY 'Firestone DELUXE CHAMPION TUBELESS TIRES i ARE SAFER FROM :44011VOUTS Whedthe the is injured, the break In. the cord body sets up a pinching adieu causing the Inflated tube to explode.
