Huron Rebekahs
Visit Their
Own Sitting Room
Prior to .a meeting of the R•e-.
bekahLodges of Huron, in Clin-
ton, recently, the group visited the
Huron County Home, where they
inspected a room furnished by the
Huron District No. 23, , Mrs.
Martha Jacob, matron, assisted by
her daughter-in-law, received the
group.
The 'room to be known as the
"Rebekah Room" is a ladies' sit-
ting room -at the Home. The 'pro-
ject which commenced when Mrs.
Cann was DDP, was continued in
Mrs: Henderson's, term and will be
completed 'under the leadership of
Mrs. R. B. (Mary) Sutter.
The sum of $150 is spent each
year and to date purchases include
'three rest rockers, two lamps, two
tables and a. davenport. Next
year another rest rocker will be
bought as well as a book case,
mirror, .pictures and a table.
Thirty members of Seaforth,
Hensall, Exeter, Goderich, Brus-
sels and Clinton lodges met here
with Mrs. Henderson, EDDP, Sea -
forth, presiding. '
Mrs. Sutter was installed as
DDP for the current year and
Mrs. Martha Wilson, Clinton, was
elected district secretary -treasurer.
Seated at the head table were
six PDD presidents along with
Mrs; Sutter, They included Mrs.
Ada Armstrong, Brussels; Mrs.
Kay Cann, Exeter; Mrs. Gertrude
Sutter, Clinton; Mrs. Mabel Nick-
erson, Clinton; Mrs. Pearn Law-
rence, Goderich; Mrs. Anne Hend-
erson, Seaforth.

Plans To Work

The June meeting of the Lon-
don Road Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Managhan, with 16
members present.
The president Mrs. Watkins,
presided and the meeting was op-
ened by singing "The Old Rugged
Cross" followed by the repeating
of the Creed.
The roll call was answered by a
wedding memory. Mrs. Anderson
gave the Flower: Convener's re-
port. The minutes of the last
meeting were read by Elva Man-
ning and approved. -
Mrs. Guetter had charge of the
mystery box which was won by
Mrs. Doucette and brought $1.15
Eleven games of bingo were play-
ed.
It was decided to get quilt
blocks to work, Roberta Plums-
teel was appointed to inquire
about them, The meeting was
closed by singing "God Save The
Queen."
There will bo' no meetings in
July or August.
The September meeting will be
at the home of Mrs, Rooth. Mrs.
Bennett will give .a talk on her
-trip. Hostesses will be Mrs. Col-
lins and Mrs. J. Nott,

Obituaries
Mrs.. Chas. Stewart
Mrs, Charles R, Stewart, 75,
RR 4, Clinton, died unexpectedly
at her home on Saturday, July 9.
She was born Revina West Kirk,
at Amherst Island, near Kingston,
and moved to Dungannon while
still a young child. She later
lived in Toronto, at St. Thomas
and for a number of years at
Londesboro, coming to her present
home following her marriage eight
years ago.
She was a member of Ontario
Street United Church, Clinton; a
life member of the WMS and an
active ,member of the WA; and
was a former teacher of the Mis-
sion Band and Sunday School.
Surviving besides her husband,
is one sister, Mrs. William Lyon,
Londesboro.
Service was held at the Ball and
Mutch funeral home, on Wednes-
day afternoon. Interment Was in
Clinton Cemetery.
Pall -bearers were Charles Ell-
iott, Francis Powell, George Lavis,
Robert Elliott, Stanley MacDon-
a 1 d and Stewart Schoenhals.
Flowerbearers had been Sunday
School pupils of Mrs, Stewart.
They were Allan Finch, Murray
Neal, Ronnie Pearson, Gordon
Jenkins, Arnold Crich, Gordon
Swan, Ross Cudmore, Bobby Gib-
bings, Larry Powell, Billy Trick,
Ralph Trewartha, Billy Vodden.
Jos. R. _Colclough
Joseph Robert. Colclough, 44,
Grand River Street, Paris, passed
away July 5 in the Willett Hos-
pital, Paris, following a lengthy
illness. The deceased was in his
75th year.
Born in Stanley Township, he
moved into Goderich Township
with his parents, the late Robert
Colclough and Mrs. Harriett Ford
Colclough, when he was but a
small boy.
When he grew up ,he followed
the occupation of farming. For
some years he farmed in Tucker
smith Township, then in Hullett
Township, then lived in Egmond-
ville for several years, moving to
Paris about ten years ago.
In politics the late Mr., Col-
clough. was a Conservative and in
religion was affiliated with the
United Church,
Surviving are` his wife, the for-
mer Elizabeth Wray; two broth-
ers, William, Woodstock; Russell,
Clinton; five sisters, Mrs. Jane
Hamilton, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs.
Bertha , Finch and Mrs. George
Hanley, both of Clinton; Mrs. Ef-
fie Churchill, Victoria, B.C.; and
Mrs. Mary McGlynn, Ferndale,
Mich.
Service was at the Bruce B.
Smith funeral home, Paris, on
Thursday afternoon, with Rev,
William C. Kitto officiating: Inter-
ment was in Paris Cemetery,

Joseph Robert Colclough.

is visiting her brother-in-law and

Mrs. Leo McGlynn, Ferndale,
Mich,, has been visiting her broth-
er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Colclough and other rela-
tives in the district.
John E. Cuninghame, Toronto
and Miss Kip Johnston, Owen
Sound, visited the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Cun-
inghame, during the past weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wild, Kathy
and Barry, accompanied by Mr.
and Mrs. William Scotchmer, Eg-
mondville, visited with Mr. C. Wid-
combe and Mary in Windsor last
weekend.
CWL Plan For
Picnic; Hear Talk
On League Crest
The regular monthly meeting of
St. Joseph's Catholic. Women's
League, subdivision was held in
the Parish Hall on Monday even-
ing, July 4 with Mrs. Wilfred
Managhan presiding.
Plans were made for the annual
parish picnic to be held on Sun-
day, July 24 in Lions Park, Sea -
forth. All are urged to attend.
An enlightening reading was
given by Mrs. Joseph Flynn on the
crest of the CWL. Father Graham
gave an interesting talk on the
lack of being able .to concentrate
properly.
A delicious lunch was served by
Mrs. Spencer, Mrs. Swinbank and
Eileen Tighe. Lunch and visiting
committee for the month of July
are Mrs. C. Trott, Mrs, J. Anstett,
Miss Whalen and Mrs. Van Nin-
huys.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson and
Mr. and Mrs. , John Anderson,
Pennyan, N,Y„ spent the past. few
days with Mr, and Mrs. •Derwin
Carter.
Mrs. Bertha Finch and Mr. and
Mrs. George - Hanley motored to
Paris last Thursday and attended
the funeral of the late Joseph Ro-
bert Colclough.
Mr, and Mrs, A. C. Kelly, Paul
and Karen Louise, who have been
spending a vacation with Mrs.
Kelly's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.
A. McGill, left on Monday for a
visit with Mr. Kelly's parents in
Victoria, B,C., before returning to
their home in Arvida, Quebec.
Mrs. John • Nogalo, Winnipeg,
Man., arrived last week by air, to
visit her pareiT s, " Mr, and Mrs.
John McGpire. Since her arrival
here, she has received word from
her husband, F/O Nogalo, of his
posting to Trenton, for a three
month course, effective August 1.
Miss Dianne Elizabeth Selker
left Crumlin Airport last Saturday
to spend the summer with rela-
tives in Seattle , and Spokane,
Wash. Dianne had successfully
passed Grade R, Toronto Conser-
vator of Music exams in piano
with first class honors and is a
pupil of Miss Elva Wiltse, Clinton
Mr. Masao Watanabe, of the
faculty of the International
Christian University of Tokyo and
of the Tokyo Women's Christian
College was the guest over the
weekend of Misses Hattie and
Sybil Courtice.
Mr. and Mrs, Orval Lobb and
family, Chatham, spent the week-
end with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford' Lobb. The two
sons John and Walter remaining
for a holiday with their grand-
parents at their cottage on Lake
Huron:
Cpl. and Mrs. Dalt Cabot left on
Tuesday for Uplands where they
will be stationed for the summer-
months. Mrs. Cabot having spent
the past few weeks holidaying
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Cliff Lobb at their cottage' on
Lake Huron.
John Cuninghame, as electronic
engineer with General Electric,
has definitely located in Toronto
and has purchased a home in
Beverly Hills, Downsview Area,
Toronto. He plans to move his
femi.ly to their new home some-
time in the near future.
