An error on the first man to
face him in the first inning stop-
ped Bob Youngblut from a no hit,
no run game. The young Auburn
pitcher settled for a no-hitter and
he allowed only four men to get
on base, three onand
walks one
hit batter. The fifth and sixth
were his worst innings but he
rallied to get out of trouble. In
the fifth, Rick Elliott reached first
on a walk; going to third before
anyone had been retired, but
Youngblut fanned Hartley, M.
Colquhoun and Jerry Holmes to
get out of the jam. Again in the
sixth, Youngblut fanned three
men, Bill MacDonald, Bob Garon
and Tom Colquhoun, after two
men were on base.
Bill MacDonald pitched well for
Clinton striking out nine men and
allowing just five hits. Three of

the public works committee, ob-
tained permission to authorize
payment of $1 per hour overtime
to the two men on the public
works. He stated that since the
gang is one man short, the wage
expense has come down, and over-
time could be afforded. Coun. N.
W. Trewartha commended the
streets men for their recent repair
work on the Mary Street Drain,
saying it was .the best job done
there for 20 years. "They're the
right men in the right place," he
said.
Clinton councillors plan to study
for one month, a resolution pre-
sented by the council of New To-
ronto, asking for support of their
request that the Department of
Health provide .adequate accom-
modation for mentally retarded
children, regardless of age,
Recital 'of the auditorium of the
Town Hall to Sgt. Johnny Fisher
of RCAF Station Clinton for the
purpose of holding dances every
Friday night from now until the
end of the summer season, for $20
per night, was ok'd after some
discussion. Two of the councillors
felt it was unfair to allow the
dances since they .would compete
with the Legion dances, but this
objection was withdrawn when
someone mentioned that attend-
ance at the Legion dances had
fallen off, and they had been can-
celled until fall.
Coun. George Beattie stated
that this was little enough to do
to co-operate with the RCAF, and
he suggested that it would be good
policy to rent the hall to the
Fisher Rhythmaires for the lower,
resident fee. However, this sug-
gestion gained no support,
Plans are that calcium will go
on the streets by the end of this
week, and holes will be patched
with blacktop. , ,
Building permits were passed to
Douglas Rozell, $300, garage; A.
Garon; $2,000, laundry front and
canopy; C. H. Epps, $800, addi-
tion; Mrs. B. C, Hearn, $800,
addition.
Coun: N. W. Trewartha was ap-
pointed to fill, the seat of the
mayor as member ex -officio of the
hospital board for the remainder
of the year.
Resignation of Coun. A. E. Shad -
dick was accepted, and after ad-
journing into committee for a brief
period, Council met again. to ap-
point Shaddick as 'Constable for
the town at a salary of $2,600 to
begin on August 1. Clarence Per-
due was officially appointed utility
man as constable and on the pub-
lic works.
Coun. Bert Gliddon was appoint-
ed to replace Shaddick on the
Public Works Committee.
The August meeting will be held
on the second, since the regular
meeting date falls on Civic Holi-
day.
Coun. Bert Gliddon, made the
suggestion, that since a lot of trees
had come down in town, and there
were more to come down in the
future, that it would be a wise.

the hits, a base on balls and an
error came in the three -run third
inning. Ken Patterson was the
top batter with a double and a
single, both very solid hits.
Fred MacDonald, coach of the
Juniors,was forcedplay to 1
aY when
only eight players showed up. The
game was filled with arguments
and bad feeling. One uprising by
Bili Patterson, saw the Auburn
catcher thrown out of the game
by umpire Gus Boussey.

double and scored two runs, It
was the first win for the local
nine since June 14 and it brings
them within two points of the
fifth place Auburn team.
Clinton were never headed after
the .first inning. They tied the
game in the'first, scored another
run in the second, two in the
fourth and one in the sixth. Zur-
ich counted . one in the first, and
one in the fifth and sixth. Mac-
