fant skirt; her elbow -length veil

small lace cap trimmed with se-

Miss Jerene Gofton, Kitchener,
as maid of honour, wore dutsy
• pink crystalette in ballerina leng-
th, and the junior bridesmaid,

A PretY Wedding was solemnized
in First Baptist Church,Tillson-
brirg, on SatUrday, June 111 when
Janet Carolyn. Smith, elder daugh-
ter of Mr., and -Mrs. Harry W.
Shah, Tillsonburg,. became the
bride of Gary • Grant Cooper, only
son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Coop-
er, Clinton.
Rev. L, E. Mason, minister of
First Baptist Church, officiated,
amid a setting of fern and baskets
of pink and white peonies and red
roses. Soloist Mrs, Jack Climie
sang three beautiful numbers, "Oh
Perfect Love," "The Lord's Pray-
er" and during the signing of the
regiater, "Because." She was ac-
companied at the organ by. Miss
Joyce Hustler,
Entering the church on the arm
of her father, the bride looked
charming in a white • flbor-length
gown of frost -print crystallette,
fashioned with a< three-tier bouf-
fant skirt, flounced with a • front
panel of Japanese organdy. Her
jacket of crystallette was styled
with a pointed collar and featured
lily -point sleeves. A ,finger-tip
veil of French illusion and frost -
Chicago, brother-in-law of the
groom, and John C. Middleton,
Clinton, brother Of the bride.
•At the reception held in "The
Little Inn," Hayfield, the bride's
mother wore navy sheer, a lace
bolero, Camellia rose hat, white
accessories and a corsage of carn-
ations. The bridegroom's mother
wore dusty rose, with egg -shell
coloured accessories and a corsage'
of cream roses.
For travelling the bride donned
white linen with a coral bolero,
while eceessories, and a white cor-
sage of roses. After a wedding
trip through the maritimes and
the north-eastern states, t h e
young couple plan to live in Toe -
onto.
The bride is a graduate of Vic-
toria College, University of Tor-
onto.
The groom is a graduate of
Victoria College, University of
Toronto, and of' Ontario College
or Education, Toronto.
Miss Mildred Roberts, a mem-
ber. of the Duke of Connaught
school teaching staff entertained
at her home with a shower in
honour of Miss Lois Middleton.
At their annual banquet, June
16, the staff of the Duke of Con-
naught school presented Miss
Middleton With a lace table cloth.
On Tuesday evening, •June 21,
friends of the Fudger House Club
presented Lois with a set of Rich-
mond crystal. '
Mrs. Keith Tyndall, Clinton,
entertained a group of friends at
a shower on Saturday, June 18; in
honour of her sister Lois.

The Little Inn

"The Little Inn", Hayfield, made
a beautiful setting for the recep-
tion following the McKenzie -
Middleton wedding at St, James'
Church, Middleton,on Saturday,
July 2. The receiving line was in
the garden.
• For the wedding dinner, the dih-
ing roof -xi was exquisite with its
beautiful appointments. The ar-
tistic floral, arrangements all
showed up to perfection against
the mist green walls, On the ban-
quet table* done with white or-
gandy cloth, appliqued with yel-
low, were two antique silver
candelabra • with lighted French
blue tapers, and an epergne con-
taining madonna lilies, pink rose-
buds, blue cornflower and ivy. The
bride's table was done in white
linen,. centred>, with the beautiful
three -tiered cake, with white. and
silver sugar bells. It was wreath-
ed with pink roses, flanked by
silver candlesticks with lighted
French blue tapers.
On each of the individual tables
a matching blue taper burned and
the table was centred by old glass
goblets holding pink rosebuds,
pansies, ivy and blue cornflower.
There were floral arrangements
on the sideboard, and in each
window.
• In the ,parlour, furnished in the
Victorian period, madonna and
orange lilies Were most effectively
arranged in an antique blue glass
bowl on the white marble mantle -
piece. Mrs. A. W. Hayman, moth-
er of the proprietor, did all the
floral arranging and a friend, R.
Herold, London, loaned the an-
tique silver 'for this festive oc-
casion.

caught to a tiara of seed pearls
and rhinestone, She carried a
cascade bouquet of red roses and
white carnations with stephanotis,
decorated with white .streamers
enhanced with red rosebuds.
Maid of honour was the 'sister
of the bride, Lorna Jean Smith.
She wore a shrimp colored waltz -
length gown of net over taffeta,
and a white. picture hat, gloves
and shoes. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white carnations dec-
orated with net and ribbon to
match her gown.
Bridesmaids were Miss Ruth
Esseltine, Tillsonburg; Miss Mary
Ellen Ostrander, Stratford, cous-
in of the bride and Miss Doris
Cooper, Clinton, sister of the
groom. The three attendants were
identically gowned in turquoise,
yellow and blue respectively.
Flowergirls were Lynda Ketch-
abaw and Brenda MacLeod. They
were attired in white street -length
gowns of net over taffeta with
turquoise headdresses. They car-
ried nosegays of white carnations
and red roses.
Groomsman was Jack Moore,
Cliriten;.Donald Fletcher, London;
Beverly Broadfoot and Donald
Scott, both of Seaforth, ushered.
Reception was held for 145
guests -in the church parlor. The
table was decorated with silver
vases holding pink roses, and cen-
tred with a three-tier wedding
cake topped with a miniature
bride and groom and flanked with
silver candelabra, The tables re-
served for guests were prettily de-
corated with' bowls of pink and
red roses.
For receiving, 'the bride's moth-
er wore a phwder blue lace dress
over taffeta with white accessor-
ies and a corsage of pink Sweet-
heart roses. The groom's mother
assisted in a two-piece white navy
dress with white accessories. She
wore a corsage of red Sweetheart
roses.
Waitresses were Betty Ann
Swatridge; Agnes Kirwin, Bar-
bara Furlong, Mary Lou. Abbott,
Betty Cooper, Joan Sharp, Audrey
Esseltine, Patricia ' Ireland and
Arabelle Howes.
The groom's gifts to his atten-
dants were wallets. The bride's
gifts to her attendants were slim-
mer white necklaces and earrings;
to soloist and organist, china fig-
urines; to the waitresses, frilly ap-
rons and figurines.
Mr. and Mrs. Cooper left on a
wedding trip to Buffalo, N.Y., and
other points east. On their return
the young couple will make their
home at 123 Simcoe Street, Till-
sonburg.
Out-of-town guests •were pres-
ent from Sarnia, London, Thames-
ville, Clinton, Bayfield, Port El-
gin, Seaforth, Stratford, Toronto,
Hamilton, Port Dover, Fort Erie,
l3rownsville, St..Thomas, Straf-
fordville, Watford, Woodstock,

• MR. AND MRS. GARY GRANT COOPER were married in
First Baptist Church, Tillsonburg, on Saturday afternoon, June 11.
The bride is Janet Carolyn, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
• W. Smith, Tillsonburg, and her husband is the only son of Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Cooper, Clinton. They plan to live at 123

Obituaries
.Mrs. A. Young R. Nelson Cole

The death occurred in Victoria
Hospital, London, on June 28, of
Mrs. .Archie Young, 105 Inkerinan
Street, London.
Mrs. Young, who was the for-
mer Ada Cushman, third youngest
daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Wilert
and the late Arthur Cushman, was
born in Strathroy, March 12, 1904.
Thirty-three years ago she was
married to .Archie Young.
Besides her husband she is sur-
vived by one daughter, Sharon (at
home); her mother, Mrs. E. Wil-
ert, London; and four sisters, Mrs.
Catherine Sageman, Mrs. Harry
(Betty) Dean, London; Mrs. R.
Leslie (Edith) McMillen, Hayfield;
and Mrs. Robert (Elsie)'Herd, To-
ronto. One brother, Ross, was
killed in an automobile accident
just at the time that he was grad-
uating from Bible College at
Springfield, Mass, in 1943.
Mrs. Young with her family had
been one of the summer cottagers
10 Bayfield for some years besides
visiting her sister, Mrs. R. L. Mc-
Millen for holidays.
Although in indifferent health
since Marc!,, it was only known
that she was suffering from a
fatal malady for a month previous
to her demise. Her three sisters,
Mrs. Herd, Mrs. Dean and Mrs.
McMillen were with her at Vic-
toria Hospital during the critical
period.
The remains rested at her late
residence until Thursday, June 30,
when the burial service was held
at the Needham Memorial funeral
chapel. The Rev. Ralph Hornby
of the London Gospel Temple of
which the deceased woman was a
member, officiated.
• The pallbearers were five neph-
ews, Robert Dean, Toronto; Jack,
William and Donald Dean, and
Sgt. J. Mayman, London, and a
brother-in-law, Robert Herd, To,
ronto. Interment took place in
Woodland Cemetery, London.
Mr. and Mrs. L. R. IVIcMillen,
Bayfield, and daughter, Mrs. J.
Mayman, Aylmer, attended the
funeral.

Crushed Foot

Doug Dick, son of Mrs. Ross
Dick, is resting comfortably in the
General Hospital, Stratford, from
injuries suffered in an accident.
Doug is suffering from a crushed
left foot and fractured bones in
the foot, He was unloading logs
at Mitchell, Saturday afternoon
when three top logs rolled. off and
one caught on the foot. ,

Manley Jinks, an employee of
General Coach Works, .required
seven stitches to close a wound on
his left hand in an injury suffered
in an aceident at the plant.

Funeral service was held on

Street East, Clinton, for Robert
Nelson Cole, 79, who died on July
1, in the Thamer Nursing Horne,
Seaforth. Russell Harris and Earl
Pear, both of Orillia, officiated.
Interment was in Clinton Ceme-
tery.
Mr. Cole was born in Londes-
boro, and for a short time lived in
Bruceffeld -before moving to Clin-
ton 48 years ago. He was a for-
rhei member of Clinton Branch
No. 140, Canadian Legion, hav-
ing served in World War T. He
attended Joseph Street Gospel
Hall, Clinton.
Surviving is his wife, the former
Flossie Noble, who is a patient at
the Thamer Nursing Home, Sea -
forth; two daughters, Mrs. Arden
Stickney, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mrs.
Goldwyn McClocklin, Mitchell;
one brother, Jack Cole, Kitchener;
two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Gross,
Kitchener and Mrs, George Jack-
son, Stratford.
