another double from Rick Elliott's
bat. .Mitchell tied the score in.
the fourth when Elliott blooped a
wrong field single over third, He
stole second and came home on
Chessell's resounding double to
deep centre. Eddie Dolmage was
safe on Hartley's error, Chessell
moving to third. Henderson belt-
ed a three and two pitch into right
scoring Chessell. Dolmage got no
farther than third when Allen was
retired by Bill McDonald and
Kraemer flied to Tebbutt.
Clinton's final run was scored
in the fifth. Johnny Hartley led
off with a single, advanced to sec-
ond on a pass ball and to third
when Gerry Tebbutt singled. Har-
tley slid home safely when Bill
McDonald was thrown out at first
by Allen. McDonald played heady
baseball on this play slowing
Dolmage's throw to the plate by
blocking his view.
Bill McDonald was in top pitch-
ing form striking out 10 men and
issuing two free passes besides
starting off the first inning rally
with a double. Allen was quite ell-'
fectiv for Mitchell striking out
five and walking one but he was
hit harder and was in trouble al-
most every inning. -

2.16 Class
The 2.16 class was a duel be-
tween the Goderich speedster
Lena's Boy and the Evans and
Fraser entry Richard Hal D.
These two battled it out in both
heats with each^`horse _winning
once. "Now" was always a ser-
iouscontender but didn't seem to
have enough staying power to cope
with the other two. Lena's Boy
took top spot going the second
heat at 2.14 3/5 as compared to
the 2.15 2/5 on the first round.
Burton Stanley ;presented Lena's
Boy with a cooling blanket:

A bad spill marred'the first heat
of this, race, Jimmy's Champ, Day
Star and Paul Brook tangled at
the top turn in the first lap; There
were na•injuries to men nor hor-
ses but two carts were damaged.
Jimmy's Champ and Day Star did
not finish. King Peter went on to
take the heat in the slow time of
2.20. Johnnie G. gave the Clinton
fans a thrill by leading up to the
three quarter pole. In the sec-
ond dash it was Jimmy's Champ
all the way. This horse scored
from sixth position and went to
the front on the first turn. King
Peter made a couple of bids • to
overtake the leader but Bill Gard-
ner had little trouble in retaining
his lead. King Peter was the re-
cipient of the cooling blanket
donated by S. Riddick and Sons.
2.24 Class Second Division
•Valen Chips and Belle Adios div-
ided`the first and second positions
in this race. BelI Adios taking
the first heat after taking the
lead and fighting off the Chips
horse to win by a length.. In the
second heat it was a different
story. Floating Rythm got into
the act and forced the other two
horses to extend themselves. Val -
en Chips took the heat and . es-
tablished a new record for himself
at 2.14 1/5. He was also the win-
ner of the blanket donated by Carl
Cox of the Clinton Body and Raid-
iator Shop.
2.24 Class First Division
Clinton fans took particular in-
terest in this heat with Silent
Knight and Nyda Hal, two Clin•
ton owned horses competing. Nyda
Hal, "Punch" McEwan's mare
took the top money finishing first
in the first heat and • second to
"The Monarch" in the second dash.
