Mrs. F. Coleman
As a'' result of burns sustained
while working in, her home, Mrs.:
Prank Coleman, formerly Florence'
H. Townsend died in the General
Hospital at Stratford on Saturday,
May 28.
She was the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. •Thomas:Town-
send and was born in Tucker
smith Township on the Townsend
homestead. She attended SS 6,
and was a member of Turner':
Church.'•
In 1912 she was married to'
Frank.. Coleman and 'part. of their
Married,, life was spent in 'Pucker -
wrath but later they moved to the -
Roxboro district In McKillop
Township, and then to concession
2,' of Hullett Township.
They had three children: Mrs.
George (Vietta) Hoggart, Hullett
Township; Mrs: Roy (Pearl) Dol -
mage, McKillop Township, and
Francis' on the farm home in Mc-
Killop. Besides her husband and
three children she leaves to mourn
her' loss one brother, Fletcher

The funeral was held on Tues-
day from the Whitney funeral
hone, Seaford), to Maitlandbank
Ceziietery, Service was conducted
by Rev, D. G. Campbell of First
Presbyterian Church, Seaforth,
Dr+ W. Stackhouse
Relatives from this area attend-
ed on May 22, the funeral of Dr,
William Roy Stackhouse, who pas-
sed away at his home at Ridgway
on Friday, May 20. He had suf-
fered a slight coronary two weeks
previously, but had appeared to be
improving until. the fatal attack
Friday morning.
He was born , at Westfield on
October 5, 1877, a son ofthe late
Mary " McGowan and: William
Stackhouse. Following his grad-
uation from Queen's University, he
enlisted and served as a captain
in the first world war. Returning
from overseas he purchased a med-
ical practice at Ridgway.
He married the former Mabel
Joyce, R.N„ Grafton, on May 14,
1923. She, with, a family of one
son, Lloyd, Preston and two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Joyce McDonald, Ridg-
way and Mrs, Mary Mehar, Fort
Erie, survive. One sister, Ada,
Welland, also survives.
The funeral service was held
Sunday afternoon from the church
with interment in Ridgway Ceme-
tery.
Relatives from .this vicinity at-
tending the funeral included Mr.
and Mrs. Norman McDowell, Bel -
grave; Mrs, Mac Wilson, Bruce -
field; Elwood Stackhouse, Glen-
coe; Mrs. George Carter, Blyth;
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reid and Mr.
and Mrs. George Cantelon, Clinton.

Mrs, K. P. Madden, formerly
Gertrude Hart, whose father, the
Rev. John Hart was at one, time
pastor of the Methodist church in
Kippen, died in Ottawa.
Her husband, who was with the
Bank of Montreal at Hensall for
some years and also was manager
at Brucefield, died in Toronto sev-
eral years ago.
Mrs. Madden lived in Hensen
for some years where she taught
music and was choir leader of Car-
mel Presbyterian Church, She was
also an elocutionist of outstanding
ability.
Surviving are a son Murray, and
one grandson, John ]Mart Madden,
Ottawa; one sister, Mrs. H. L.
Whiteman, Toronto. Funeral took
place in Toronto.

Robert McCartney, North St.,
died on Sunday afternoon. He was
preparing to visit a friend when
he suffered an attack in his tlau-
ghter's car as they prepared for
the drive.
Born near Ottawa in Carlton
County, he came to this area asea
boy and •farmed lin the llolmesville
area for 38 years, retiring here 14
years ago. He was a member of
Wesley -Willis United 'Church.
His wife, the former Elizabeth
Ann Frances Proctor, died in 1936.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. A.
L, Rodger; and one granddaughiter,
Elizabeth Bodges, both of Clinton.'
Funeral servicewas conducted
at the Beattie funeral home, Rat-
tenbury Street West, Clinton, on
Wednesday `afternoon with,.' Rev.
11. C. Wilson officiating. Burial
was in Maitland Cemetery, Gode-
rich„

the following item an your paper:
I received word this morning of
the death of my uncle, John Wal-
ton. He passed away in his sleep
May 23; 1955, at the home of his
sister, Mrs. Frank. Salisbury in
Newton LongvilIe, Buckingham
shire, England.
As you know, he had worked
for Mr. and Mrs, W. Jackson a
good many years, so thought this
news would be of interest to the
people of Clinton. He is survived
by one sister, Ruth; his son Phillip;
two grandchildren; one brother,
Walter, all -bf England; and one
nephew Ernest Walton, Clinton;

I regret to inform you of the
death of Edgar John Walton, for-
merly a resident of Clinton for
some 46 years, who passed away
peacefully on the 23rd instant 'at
the home of his sister, Mrs, Ruth
Salisbury at Newton Longville,
where he had been living since his
return from Canada in 1952. Al-
one niece, Winifred Fraser, River-
side, Ontario and one niece, Mary
Jordan, Clinton:

though in his 83rd year he had
kept a live interest in the news
of Clinton through receiving the
Record regularly, and it Was per-
haps inevitable at his age that he
should have noted the death of
some p of his generation since
leaving Clinton, the last and sad-
dest for him being that of Doctor
Shaw,
He found England very different
from the pre 1914 days when he
left, the biggest change being in
the towns, but he was able to
visit and recall the 'places where
he spent his youth in the, country
district between Dunstable, •Tying- '
hoe and Leighton Buzzard. TI)e
interment is at Ivinghoe on the
26th instant, where his grandpar-
ents used to live at Ford End
Farm.
