WA Meets
The Woman's. Association meet-
ing followed, with the president,
Mrs, Jack Yeo, presiding. The
meeting opened with the theme
song and creed, Mrs. Yeo read
the Scripture lesson and gave the
comments on it. Mrs. ''Edward
Grigg gave the treasurer's report,
The W,A. accepted the invitation
to do the catering for three meet-
ings, to be held in the near future,
The meeting closed with the hymn
"Breathe on Me, Breath of God",
and prayer. by Mrs. Yeo. Hostesses
for the day were Mrs. E. J, Tre-
wartha and Mrs. W. R. Lobb.

in the Sunday Schoolrooms for
their. May meeting. Mrs. Leslie

Jervis was in charge of the pro-
gram and took as the •theme of
the meeting "Live arid Give". The
call to worship was given by Mrs.
Jervis, followed by the singing of
"From Greenland's Icy Mountains"
Prayer was offered by • Mrs. H.
C. Wilson and Mrs. W. Lobb read
the scripture lesson. Comments on
it were given by the leader, who
also read an article "Prayer and
Attitude".
Mrs C. Wilson read a true story
"Answer to Prayer"
Mrs. William Norman and Mrs.
Edward Grigg sang a duet, "A
Little Talk With God". Mrs.
Carman Tebbutt reviewed the
chapter in the Study Book. Mrs.
Wilson gave some . short notices
taken from the Temperance Advo-
cate.
Mrs. Jervis read a poem, titled.
"Suppose". The president, Mrs.
William . Norman, .condubted the
business period, and the meeting
closed with the hymn "Lord, For
Tomorrow And It's Needs," and
prayer;

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawson and
Lynn, London; Mr. and Mrs. Nel-
son Brown, Detroit, Mich., spent
Mother's Day weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. D. E. Gliddon.
Mission Band
The Wilhelnvne +Mission Band,
Holmesville United Church, met in
the school for their May meeting,
with Diane Haughton in charge of
the program, The meeting opened
with the hymn "Stand Up, Stand
Up for Jesus", 'foilowed, by the
Mission Band purpose.
Cathie Potter read the Scripture
lesson and Bobby, Norman had the
prayer. A poem May Speaks"
was given by Barbara Yeo. Marion
Liebold read a peace story and
Dominique Gahwiler gave a temp-
erance article. The hymn "Buds are
Singing" was sung. A contest was
enjoyed, and the study book period
was taken by Mrs. Jack Yeo and
Mrs. Frank McCullough. The meet-
ing closed with the hymn "God
Sees the Little Sparrow Fall" and
the Mizpah benediction.
Family Day
Christian Family Day was ob-
served atmorning
the service at
Holmesville United Church on
May 8. Kenneth Trewartha, Sun-
day School superintendent, was in
charge, and was assisted by Mrs,
Frank Yeo, Frances McCullough,
Mary Helen Yeo, Gerald Walter
and Mrs. Lloyd Bond. During the

Huron's Tom Pryde Supported By PC Leaders
Thomas Pryde, MLA for Huron, is the unanimous choice of Conservatives to be their can-
didate in Huron riding for the Ontario general election on June 9. Mr. Pryde has been MLA
for Huron since 1948. He is receiving strong support in his campaign from leaders of the party.

nomination meeting early this month. To -night, the Hon. Leslie Frost, premier of Ontario, is
scheduled to speak in Clinton Town Hall in support of the Conservative campaign.

The ladies of the Woman's Miss-
ionary Society and Woman's -
Association met at the home of
Mrs. Robert Taylor on Wednesday
evening, May 4.
W.M.S. members were in charge
of the devotional period. . The W.
A. business period followed with
Mrs. Robert Taylor presiding. Mrs.
Mervin Johnston read the secret-
ary's report and the roll call was
answered by 25 ladies and two
visitors,
It was decided to have a joint
meeting of the W.M.S. and W.A.
for June and August. Mrs. Robert
Taylor and Mrs, William McAsh
were appointed to attend the W.A.
Convention at Exeter on May 11.
Mrs. Mervyn, Hayter donated
three pieces of print to be made
into aprons for the bazaar. A bus
trip to Detroit on May 25 was
planned.
Mrs. Wilfred Chuter conducted
a contest. Lunch was served by
the lunch committee.

The Londesboro Woman's Miss
ionary Society held the regular
meeting as a Thankoffering meet-
ing

ing on May 12, having as their
guest Blyth, Burns and Constance
groups. Group two with Mrs
Murch, leader, presided. Devotion
were taken by Mrs. N. Alexander
and Mrs. J. Carter, -
Blyth group favored with a due
by Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Camp-
bell accompanied by Mrs. Wheeler.

The offering was taken by Mrs.
J. Carter and Mrs, J. Armstrong,
prayer by Mrs. Murch. After the
meeting a lunch was served to the
guests and a social time enjoyed.
WI Meets
Mrs. Stanley Lyon, president of
the Londesboro Women's Institute
presided at the regular meeting
which was held on Thursday, May
5 . Mrs. Arthur Clark, secretary-
treasurer read the minutes of the
last meeting which were approv-
ed. Correspondence was read and
dealt with and treasurer's report
given. Plans were made for an
opening night of the hall which
has been newly decorated.
Delegates were appointed to the
district annual to be held in Au-
burn on May 31—Mrs. Bert Allen,
Mrs. C .Crawford, Mrs. W. Howatt.
Roll call was answered by "If I
were a shut-in, how I would like
to be remembered", also by hand-
ing in coat hangers to be used in
the dressing rooms. Several mem-
bers thanked their Sunshine Sisters,
Mrs, Durnin Phillips, Dungan-
non, district president, installed
the officers for the year.
The topic on public health was
given in "the form of two films.
One was on shyness in people,
especially, school children and how
it can be overcome and the other
on mental ,illness.
The program consisted of a read-
ing
ing by Mrs. W, Howatt, "Beatit-
udes of the Homemaker"; a solo
by Mrs. Glen Carter,''accompanied
by Mrs. 3, Armstrong; a reading•
by Mrs. ''Lloyd Pipe and a solo
by Phyllis McCool, accompanied
by Mrs. Tom Allen. Lunch was
served, by the hostesses.
