WA Meeting
The Woman's Association of St,
James' Anglican Church, Middle-
ton, met Thursday afternoon, May
5, at the home of Mrs. Arnold
Miller, with 15 ladies present.
Mrs. John Middleton presided
and opened the meeting with the
members' prayer followed by the
Lord's Prayer; Mrs: Robert Welsh
read the Scripture lesson.
The members were reminded of
the Spring •Deanery of Huron to
be held in'Wingham on Thursday,
The 'highlight of the meeting
was Mrs. Fred Middieton's talk on
her six week's sojourn in Florida,
last winter, pointing out many int-
eresting features and landmarks in
each different state as.they jour-
neyed south: such items of interest
as the Kentucky horses, the birth-
place of Lincoln—the .Circle M
Ranch, the Mardi. Gras at New
Orleans, a Brahmin ranch and then
a detailed account of Florida's
attractions. Mrs. Middleton's ac
count^ of orange and grapefruit
culture was most informative. All
present visualized the jewel-like
lakes, lovely settings for, the
ridges of Florida where sloping
orchards of oranges and grapefruit
flourish.
The Middleton's visited the
Ringling Brothers museum and
winter quarters at Sarasota, the
Cypress Gardens, the experiment-
al farm at Lake Alfred, also pro-
cessing plants for orange juice.
It is seven years before a grove
of oranges starts to pay off, but
they may.bear for 100 years. The
citrus fruits were 'introduced to
Florida by the Spaniards around
the year 1500. Mrs. Middleton
had fruit and various other mem-
entos of her visit on display at the
meeting. This talk was very well
received.
Also on display was the Dorcas
bale and some crib quilts. Mrs.
John Grigg, Mrs. .Arnold Miller
and Mrs. Cole deserve a great deal
of credit in these departments.
Another crib quilt was .:partially
done during the afternoon.
Rev. W. S. Outerbridge closed
the meeting with prayer, after
which a hearty lunch was served.

Ice Cream Treat
(By MARIE FRASER,
Food Editor of the Dairy Foods
Service Bureau)
Beautiful as it is good for
you — Ice Cream Dream combines
cake, swathed in a luscious shade
of pink meringue, with satin -
smooth vanilla ice cream in the
centre circled with ripe, red straw-
berries. Ice cream, you know, is
more than a "dessert". It's a
dairy food supplying protein and
all the vitamins and minerals of
milk.

never guess how easy it is to
make -the ice cream comes in pint
cartons from most stores whether
small or large and the fragrant
cake layers from your own homey
kitchen. It's easy to whip up
the uncooked meringue, and then
put the "dream" together.
