Four Generations Present At Family Picnic (By our Bayfield correspondent) Sunday afternoon, May 1, was a very happy occasion for Alfred Scotchmer when a family picnic was held at which four generations were present, and all his children were together. With Mr. and Mrs. Scotchmer (Mrs. R. Heath), Calgary; Daisy (Mrs. F. P. Ar- kell), Rose (Mrs. Gordon Scotch- mer), Alfred Jr., and Gordon, gath- ered with their respective families at the home of their sister Helen (Mrs. John Cluff). Oi Mr. Scotchmer's 16 grand- children, only two, Thomas Ar- kell, Hamilton, and Gwen Heath (Mrs. R. Kjonis) Patterson, Calif., were not able to be present. Of his seven great-grandchildren, two, JoAnne and Kenny Arkell, were prevented from attending owing to illness. . Forty-one partook of a delicious buffet supper served in the house about four o'clock. Other relatives and friends who enjoyed this happy family gathering included Les O'Neill, Mr. and Mrs. M..7. Butler and Murray Neal and Gordon Jen- kins, Clinton. Hensall Village Bride -Elect Feted (By our Hensall correspondent) Miss Marlene Petzke was hostess at her home on Friday evening, May 6, for a presentation to Miss Connie Bell, bride -elect of this month, whose marriage to Morris Laird Taylor, Brueefield, takes place in St. 'Paul's Anglican. Church, Clinton, on May 13. The guest of honor was present- ed with a beautiful tri-Iight Iamp and other gifts. The address was read by Miss- Marlene Petzke, presentations were made by Miss Jean Mousseau and Marlene. A recreational period was in the charge of Miss J. Mousseau. Twenty-five girl . friends of the bride -elect attended the affair. Ladies' Club Has Mirth -Making: Roll Call To• pic The April meeting of the London Road Club was held at the home of Mrs. Van Ninhuys with 14 members and two visitors present. The president, Mrs, W. Watkins, opened the meeting. The song "Corning Through the Rye" was sung and the creed repeated. Roll call was answered by imitating an animal and this caused much fun. Thank -you letters were read. It' was moved that $10 be donated to the Cancer Society. Mystery box was won by Helen Anderson, The program was in the charge of Mrs. James Nott. She gave a, reading entitled "Keep Smiling". The rest of the afternoon was spent playing bingo. The meeting was closed with "God Save the Queen" and a social hour was en- joyed. The hostess assisted by Mrs, Rooth served delicious refresh- ments. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Cooper. Roll call will be a sale of slips, bulbs or seeds. The program will be in the charge of Miss Helen Anderson.
