Robbers Little
• Robbers broke into James W.
McCool's general store in Londes-
boro recently but according to Mr.
McCool were rewarded with very
little loot for their efforts,
All that was missing was sev-
eral packages of cigarettes frorn
the cigarette -rack. Apparently the
thugs were even choosy in this
department, as only one particular,
brand was missing.
The post office, which is located
in the stere, was completely turn-
ed upside down, but all that was
available in either the store till,
or the post office, were coppers,
which the robbers did' not touch.
Entrance was gaieed to the
store by crow -barring the panels
from the back door.
According to Mr. McCool, in-
vestigating police are inclined to
believe that- the perpetrators of
the crime are the same ones who
broke into the Blyth firm of How-
son & Howson, Ltd., the same
weekend. Police brought a crow-
bar left at the Howson plant to
Londesboro and it checked with
the marks left by a similar imple-
ment on the McCool back dcor.

•
heve less skin cancer than do ,.
whites. The probable explanation
of this is that the piginent in the
skin of Indians •ie a proteetion

the sun. Negroes • are also less
susceptible to skin cancer.
Gracious Living
An elderly Scotchman had a
whimsical expression: "Children' •
used to be rased on oatmeal and
the Bible, now they are raised on
corn -flakes and Eaton's catal-
ogue." ,"Gracious Living" of a
century ago was mostly frugal,
sometimes limited by economy and
often sacrificial. But it always in -
eluded reverence for God, respect
for others' needs and reliance on
the word of God. Remember Ro-
bert Burns' poem, ''The Cotter'e
Saturday Night?" The father of
the home with his family about
him after supper is done, takes
down the Bible and says, "Let's
worship God."
To -day "Gracious Living" must
include a 'fine home, a new car,
splendid elothin g, sumptuous
meals, exciting friends and of
course the correct liquors for the
occasion. The Bible would be an
unwanted guest at a cocktail
party. May God forgive us; every
time we advance the liquor traffic
we dethrone thd Bible and Him
for whom it stands.
