spent a short time at the ,home of
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Sutter at
the end of the week, and on his
return was accompanied by his
wife and three children, who will
now take up residence in their
new home there, Mrs. Sutter also
accompanied them and will spend
a couple of weeks helping them
get settled.

were married in Brucefield United Church oh Saturday, March 12,
by Rev. W. J. Maines, Embro, assisted by Rev. G. G. Burton,
Brucefield. The bride is the daughter of Mr. ;arid Mrs. Norman.
Baird, Brucefield, and previous to her marriage had been with
the Clinton News -Record for several months, and more . recently
with the Singer Sewing Machine Company in St. Catharines and
Goderich. Her husband, who is employed at the Par -Knit Hosiery
Mills, is the Only son of Mr, and Mrs. Frank Jones, R.R. 2, Clinton.

London Road Club
Holds Irish
Night Meeting

The March meeting of the Lon-
don Road Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Norman Manning on
March 17. The meeting was pre-
sided over by the president, Mrs.
Watkins and was opened by •sing-
ing "Abide With Me", followed by
the repeating of the Creed in
unison.
The roll call was answered by
an Irish joke by ten members. The
secretary's report was read by
Mrs. Norman Manning and ap-
proved as read. A thank -you card
from Mrs. Clegg who is in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, was
read and also one from Jean And-
erson, Also a letter from Mrs.
Doucette thanking the club for
cards and treats and enclosing a
donation to the club, was read.
The mystery box was won by
Mrs, H. Plumsteel. Bingo was
played with ten members winning.
The meeting was closed by "God
Save the Queen". The hostesses,
Mrs. Watkins and Mrs. Managhan
served a delicious lunch.
The April meeting will be at the
home of Mrs, VanNinehuey's. Roll
call; imitating an animal; pro-
gram, Mrs. James Nott; hostesses,
Mrs. VanNinehueys and Mrs.

Hits Jackpot At
Legion Bingo
The regular bi-monthly , bingo
sponsored by Clinton Branch of
the Canadian Legion' was well
attended on March .10. The big
prize . winner of the evening
was Mrs.' Marks, Listowel, who
took home the special $25 jack-

Church Woman's Association was,
held on Saturday afternoon, Mar-
ch 12, with a Business men's sup-
per from six o'clock.
Hostesses `for the afternoon, Mrs.

Andrews, greeted the guests at
the entrance to the church school'.

Pre -Easter Week
Clinton Churches
Clinton always remembers Pas -
son Week. This year the Minist-
erial Association has arranged
services for that week, each even-
ing, Monday to Thursday,' inclus-
ive, April 4-7. The Association
was agreed that with profit 'the
general theme "Sins -that Crucified
Jesus" could be considered.
As one of the ministers said;
"We bear in mind that these sins
were not Him, They were and
are the sins.. pf the people whom
he came to redeem and save."
This' year . the services will be
held in the Huron Road Baptist
Church, at eight o'clock each even-
ing. On Monday, Dr. J. B. Me-
Dormand, Toronto, who is the
general secretary of the Baptist
Convention of' Ontario and Que-
bec, will speak on "Indifference".
Rev. R. M. P. Bulteel, St, Paul's
Anglican, will ,speak on the topic,
"Prejudice" on Tuesday evening.
The next night, Rev. D. J. Lane,
St. Andrew's Presbyterian will
deal with the topic "Envy", and
the subject for Rev. A, G. Eagle,
Ontario Street United, and Rev.
H. C, Wilson, Wesley -Willis Unit-
ed, on Thursday, is "Revenge".
These four topics are of the sins
which will he under discussion dur-
ing Passion Week.

Mothers' Study Group scheduled
for Tuesday night has been post-
poned until Tuesday, March 29, in
the church parlour with Mrs. How-

"Work makes the world go round;
fun keeps the axle greased", Mrs.
Peck will attend the president's
conference to be held in Guelph
in May. Mrs. Winston Workinan
conducted an Irish contest,
Mrs. Harry Caldwell, guest
speaker for the °meeting, gave
highlights of her trip to the coast.
The group accepted an invitation
to be guests of Glen Gowrie WI on
March 25. Program committee will
meet at the home of Mrs. William
Kyle on March 21 to arrange
meetings for 1955-56.
Plans, are being made for : a
euchre and dance in the town
hall, Hensall.

Plans Visit To
Seaforth Chapter
The regular meeting df Huronic
Rebekah Lodge was held in the
lodge roores.on Monday night with
N.G. Ethel. McPherson presiding.
An invitation from Edelweiss
Rebekah Lodge, Seaforth, to visit
with them on March 28 was ac-
cepted. Members who wish to go to
Seaforth are asked to be at the
lodge rooms at 7.30 p.m.
District Deputy President, Anne
Henderson, Seaforth will make her
official visit here on April 4. A
penny sale is being planned for the
evening.
Plans were made for the cel-
ebrating of the 25th Birthday of
the lodge on May 2, in the Legion
Hall when Victoria Rebekah Lodge
London, will exemplifi the degree
and the other lodges of this dis-
trict will be guests. Special guests
will be Mrs. Betty Dundas, London
assembly treasurer, and Mrs. Mita
Preistley, Toronto, assembly pres-
ident.

The Turner's Church Woman's
Association met at the home of
Mrs, A. G, Eagle, Clinton, with 12
members and two; visitors present.
The WA hymn was sung followed
by singing another hymn.
Mrs. Gregor McGregor read the
Scripture and Mrs. Erlin Whit-
more led in prayer. Miss Courtice
gave a very interesting topic.
The roll call was answered with
a hymn; beginning with the letter
"A".. The secretary's report was
given and carried, Mrs. Mervin
Falconer gave a very humorous
reading. Mrs. Jack Turner favor-
ed with a mouth -organ selection:
The meeting closed with singing
a hymn, followed by the benedic-
tion after which lunch was served
by the hostess and her helpers.
The April meeting will be • at
Mrs. Ed, Layton's.
The CGIT girls' of Knox Church,
Goderich and St. Andrew's Church
Clinton, met in the Clinton church
to hear Miss Anne MacEachern,
regional secretary for Hamilton
and London Synodical: The Gode-
rich groups under the leadership
of Mrs. E. A. Videan, Mrs. F. Mac-
Donald and Mrs. Marjory McLean
led in the worship service with
Francis Currie as chairman.
Miss MacEachern congratulated
the St.' Andrew's group and their
leaders, Mrs. Ron McCann, Mrs.
James Cooper and Miss Mildred
Farquhar on their success and
gave valuable suggestions regard-
ing the work.
Catherine Blacker gave a wel-
come to the visitors and Susan
Finlay. thanked the speakers.
Those taking part in the program
were Mrs. J. B. Russell, secretary
for girls' work in the Synodical;
Mrs. Wes Bradnock, piesbyterial
girls' work secretary and Mrs. D.

Miss MacEachern showed slides
of camp scenes and the work of
other groups. A sing -song and
