Diesel Replaced
On London Run
After 27 years of diesel train
service on the Clinton -London -
'Sarnia run, the CNR has_replaced
the familiar locomotive with an
older style steam train. Service
has been' reduced, and now mail,
freight and passengers will 'travel
on the one train, which 'arrives in
Clinton at' 11.40 a.m, each 'week
day, and leave on its return trip
40 minutes later, at 12.20 p.m.
Service under the new schedule
commenced on Monday. It is not
known for 'Sure just what incon
venience the 'change` will place
door: local people, though itdoes
curtail to some degree the quick
nese of serviceo
f rrg
fez hta
and ex-
press. With the, previous wait
over of some three hours, it was
possible for a business to receive
an order in the morning, process
it, andhave the goods or an an-
swer by letter in the return after-
noon.mail. Under the new sched-
ule rids' is next to impossible. '
The old diesel train, No 15836
which plied the run up until -hist
Saturday, Was the first diesel ever
brought into Western Ontario by
CNR. In 1926' She operated out
of Hamilton to Toronto and Strat-
ford. Two years later she was.
put on the Sarnia -London -Clinton
run, Which she plied ever since.
