Mrs. H. Stewart
Friends and relatives were sad-
dened by the death of •Mrs. Hat-
tie Stewart, Bruce, Street, Goder-
ich, on February, 17. •
Following a fall in her 'home in
vt hich she fractured a hip, Mrs.
Stewart was taken to Victoria
Hospital, London, where she seem-
ed to be progressing favorably
when pneumonia and 'other com-
plications set in.
The. former Hattie Middleton
was a descendant of a pioneer
family of Goderich Township, and
daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs.
John Middleton. She was the wife
of George' Stewart, florist in God-
erich for many years. Her hus-
band -predeceased her 14 years
ago, since which she had lived
alone. Esteemed for her gentle
kindness, Mrs. Stewart will be
missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs.
Hampson, Willowdale; Nyna and
Agnes, Goderich. One brother
Fred, Goderich Township, lives on
the old Middleton homestead
which was cleared and settled by
his grandfather' in. -1835.
A nephew Douglas Middleton
who had made his home with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart since childhood,
lives at St. Catherines.
Mrs. Stewart was a faithful
member of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderich, The funeral
service was performed by Rev. R.
G. McMillan from her former home
on February 19. Interment was
in Maitland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six nephews,
Stewart Middleton, Kenneth Tay-
lor, Ted, Ross, Don and John Mid-
dleton.
