McKenzie presided en Tuesday afternoon at a meet- ing of St. Andrew's Women's Mis- sionary Society at the home of Mrs. M. D. McTaggart.; After singing a hymn, Mrs, George Ro- berton and Mrs. William Shaddock conducted the worship period. ONTARIO STREET WA WILL MEET FEBRUARY 1 'The Ontario Street Woman's .Association will meet on Tuesday, February l at 2.30 o'clock. Miss H. Courtice and Mrs. F. Layton will be in charge of the program. St. Andrew's Ward will serve. The secretary, Mrs. Robert Scott and treasurer, Mrs. ,J. R. Makins, gave the annual reports showing a very good year for the society. In response to a request from the Presbyterial supply sec- retary, members decided to make a quilt for the bale. Mrs. D. J. Lane, with the aid of a map of India, told the story of a railway superintendent's steno- grapher in the city of Nagpur. $1,000 has been sent from the Presbyterian WMS in Canada to assist people like this man to find suitable literature in his own lang- uage. His indifference to Christ- iajiity showed what is typical of most middle class Indian people, After singing Zion's King Shall Reign Victorious'., 'Mrs. McKenzie closed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. G. D. Roberton and Mrs, Rathburn assisted the hostess in serving refreshments. Five quilts will be made to be forwarded to local hospitals and the Children's War Memorial Hospital, London. Ten , dollars- each was voted to the „Canadian • Cancer Fund and the Hehsall' Legion. At the annual February meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Harry Caldwell all conveners of standing com- mittees are reminded to have their reports ready. Luncheon was served by. Mrs. R. Teachers Meet In Card Games. Held In Legion Hall The Ladies' Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion held a successful card party in the Legion rooms on Thursday 'evening. High score in euchre went to Mr. A. McLelland and. ladies' high to Mrs. Hartley Managhan; men's low, Blackie Black; ladies' lone hand, Mrs. R. M. Bulteel; mens' lone hand, Hart- ley Managhan. A, committee consisting of Mrs. Grace Castle, Mrs. Babs Fitzsim- mons, Mrs. Helen Bisback, Mrs. Jean Zeleniuk, Mrs. Eunice Black, Mrs. Eappington and Mrs, Burton Stanley served' lunch. These parties Will continue dur- ing the winter months and another will be played on February third. An invitation is extended to the public as well as to members of the organization. 0 4-b. Public School The January meeting ` of the Federation of Women Teachers Association of Ontario was held in the teachers' lounge of the Clin- ton Public School last Wednesday evening. Miss Edna Jamieson pre- sided, and Miss Winnie Gray as- sisted with the opening exercises. Miss Olive Johnson read the minutes of the previous meeting, and presented the financial state- ment. An interesting article on "A Teacher's Hobby" was read by Miss Jamieson Humorous read- ings were given by Miss W. Gray, Mrs: George Falconer and Mrs. Kenneth Williams. A "menu" con- test, conducted by Mrs. Jefferson, proved both interesting, and amus- ing. Door-to-door deliveries will be continued as usual. It was decided that the February meeting would be held in the Clinton Public School on the third Wednesday. A social hour brought this inter- esting and instructive evening to a close. SCOUT MOTHER'S AUXILIARY WILL MEET TUESDAY The Cub and Scout Mothers' Auxiliary will meet next Tuesday evening, February 1, in the council chamber of the town hall at eight o'clock. In the ab- sence of the president, Mrs. Alice Rumball, the meeting . was con- ducted by the vice-president Mrs. Mary Brown. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secre- tary, Mrs. Irene Clegg, and a fine financial report was given by the club's treasurer, Mrs. Mildred Daw.;, Mrs, Gwen Barrow was welcomed' into the club as ,a new member. As a fund -rasing project, the Kinettes sponsored a successful court whist party earlier this mon- th at the Hotel Cliton and••plans. are being made to hold another party on Thursday evening, Feb- ruary 17, at the same location. It also was decided to hold a baking sale and tea in April. At the close of the business meeting, the girls enjoyed several games. A delicious lunch was ser- ved by the hostess.
