mer president,
Mrs.. Burton (Betty) Stanley
was installed as president, and
the other officers are, past presi-
dent, Mrs. S. E. Castle; first vice-
president, Mrs, B. Cook; second
Vice-president, Mrs. Verna Mor-
gan; treasurer, Mrs. V. Habgood;
secretary; Mrs, Dutot; rnembers of
the executive, Mrs. Lucre McAl-
pine, Mrs. M. Grieg, Mrs. M.
Schoenhals; standard bearers, Mrs.
D. Bisback and Mrs. "Dabs -Fitz -
Mrs. Stanley expressed her.
thanks for the loyalty and co-op-
eration of the eicecutive and mem-
bers in the pastyear and urged
their continued support.
Mrs, Middy, seeretary,;,and ,Mrs.
Habgood, treasurer, presented
their reports for 1954, when
$1,128.05 had been raised, and ex-
penditures had left a balance of
$31.84. $270 hadbeen spent on
tables, for the hall.
Lettersof thanks were received brought to a 'close.
minster Hospital, the Britsh Em-
pire Service League and others.
Mrs. Eunice Black took her affir-
mation.
Lunch committee for card par-
ty planned for next week, will be
Mrs. Castle, Mrs. Fitzsirnmons,
Mrs. Bisback, Mrs. Zelenuik and
Mrs. Black. Mrs. Inkley and Mrs,
Leppington will be in charge of
cards and prizes.
For the formal St. Patrick's
dance, Mrs. McAlpine, Mrs. Grigg,
and Mrs. Schoenhals will be in
charge and convener of the social
committee for February will be
Mrs.' R. MacDonald, Saturday,
night bingos are discontinued
while stores are closed, during
winter months.
Mrs.. Hall congratulated the
members on the year's accomplish-
ment and, commented on some of
the activities in a •practical, and
helpful' way. She said, " a small
bank balance showed :service and
assistance to many worth -while.
projects" and shefurther urged
the members not to forget the vet-
erans.
Lunch was served and an inter-
esting and profitable meeting was

Hears .Annual
Reports Given
The January meeting of Wesley -
Willis United Church Woman's As-
sociation held in church parlor
was well attended. Mrs. Frank
Andrews, president, opened the
meeting, with New Years thoughts.
Devotional topics were taken by
Mrs, Nelson, Mrs. McGill and Mrs.
Hearn. ' Various monthly reports
were received and adopted.
The annual reports showed a
very successful year in all; phases
of work. Mrs. Potter, flower con-
vener stated that 122 members of
the church had received floral at-
tention. Mrs. Addison, reporting
for fellowship, stated 160,„home
and 57 hospitalcalls made.
The W.A. plan to hold two an-
nual bazaars; the St. Patrick's
Tea on March 12, and the County
Fair on October 22, and: would sol-
icit members advanced -planning to
make these successful.
A pot -luck supper on Wednes-
day, February '2, at 6.30 is being
arranged for members and friends.
The Association will be holding
the regular meetings at- 2.30 p.m.

Witnesses Will
Meet At Kitchener'
Kitchener will he the focal point
of interest for about 20 delegates
from the Clinton congregation of
Jehovah's witnesses as they assem-
ble with congregations from God-
erich, Mitchell, Elmira, Galt, and
other Western Ontario centres for
the semi-annual circuit assembly,
January :14 to 16.
The assembly will convene in,
the Kitchener -Waterloo Collegiate
Auditorium for the three day pro-
gram of Bible discourses, demon-
strations and discussion of circuit
progress. r

cational tours to Toronto or other
centres.

see the opening of parliament on

Happy Doubles
Hold Initial
1955 Meeting
The Happy Doubles Club of On-
tario Street United Church met at
the parsonage on Monday evening,
January' 10. The meeting was op-
ened by the new president, Flor-
ence Symons. The opening hymn,
"Jesus Shall Reign Where'er the
Sun" was sung. The Beatitudes
were read and followed by prayer.
Everyone joined in the singing of
the hymn "Glorious things of thee
are spoken."
During the business session a
letter from "Live Oaks Training
School" regarding a donation was
read. A motion was passed to
send $10. The program for the
next six months was drawn up.
The February meeting is to be a
box social at the president's home
and Art Aiken is in charge of the
topic on "Financing." Marian Col -
dough was in charge of the pro-
gram which consisted of two con-
tests.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP' AT
WESLEY-WILLIS CHURCH
• The Bible Study Group of Wes -
les -Willis United Church met on
Monday night at the home of Mrs.
M. Addison. The study period was
taken by Mrs. J. A. McGill, assis-
ted by Miss B. Deihl, Miss B. Mc-
Roberts spoke on religious educat-
ion in the Public Schools and a
reeding by Mrs. Addison was much
enjoyed.

Leaves A Thought
With WA Ladies
The St. Andrew's Prehyterian
Women's Association held their
first meeting of 1955', at the home
of the president Mrs. E. Farquhar,
with good attendance. The presi-
dent opened the meeting by read-
ing Psalm 121 and a verse "The
New Year." ; Mrs. Shaddock led in
prayer.
The treasurer's report was very
gratifying. "Our efforts .in 1954
were indeed blessed which is great
encouragement to press on in the
work for1955."
The .secretary's report was en-
joyed as letters were read from.
members who no longer live in
Clinton, but are with the WA in
thoughts; work and ,prayer. Also
cards of thanks were received from
shut-ins remembered at Christmas.
A chain of New Years thoughts
,ran throughout the meeting; Mrs.
J. Snider read a few verses from
a very old poem, The Coming
Year."
An invited guest Mrs. C. L.
Rathburn, gave a very interesting
talk and chose as the title, "Ram-
bling Thuoghts," which was indeed
appropriate as there were many
lovely thoughts included. To men-
tion one: 'To every man there
openeth, A way and ways and a
way, And the high Soul cliinba the
high way, And the low soul gropes
the low, And in between on the
misty flats. The rest drift to and
fro, But to every man their open-
eth a high way and a low. And
every man decideth, The way his
Soul shall go."
The meeting closed with a hymn
and the Lord's Prayer, after which
the hostess served refreshments.
Mrs, G. Gauley will be hostess
in her home on Rattenbury Street,
assisted by Mrs. E. Gibson for the
February meeting,
Initiate A New
Member Of OES
The regular meeting of the Clin-
ton Branch No. 266, Order of the
Eastern Star was held on Thurs-
day,. January 6 at •which time
Harry Williams, Holmesville, was
Initiated into the Chapter.
Worthy Matron Helen Wells and
W.P. Bill Clayton presided. Guests
were present from Exeter and Bly-
th, including D.D.G.M. Mrs. Ella
Middleton from Exeter.
Tickets were sold on a cake
which was won by Mrs. Lawrence,
Goderich. A social hour was en-
joyed with Grace German as lunch
convener.

The inaugural meeting of the
Woman's Missionary Society of
Ontario Street United Church was
held on Tuesday, January 11, in
the church hall, with the president
in the chair.
Devotions were taken by Mrs.
Aiken from Psalm 51. Annual
reports were givers and plans were
madefor a Valentine Tea on Feb-
ruary 8.
The installation of officers was
conducted by Rev. A. G. Eagle.
The Study Book was taken by Mrs.
Fear, and a solo instrumental was
given by Miss E. Wiltse.

Institute Tuesday evening,. t

chair. The meeting opened with
the, singing of the institute ode
followed by the Lord's prayer.
Roll call was answered by :giving

Home was necessary in our coun-
ty."
A nominating committee was ap-
pointed to draw up the new slate
atofficers for 1955.
Guest speaker for : the evening
was Miss Clara McGowan, Blyth.
Miss McGowan is assistant ` super-
intendent of the Huron. County.
Children's Aid Society. She told of
some of the work they are doing

the interesting talk and 'the meet-
ing was ,adjourned.

on Saturday from three week's
